This was one hell of a pass by Favre, but it is only eclipsed by the job of the WR actually catching and remaining in bounds... awesome pass, tremendous catch.. Classic Brett Favre pass here.. aside from the classic Brett Favre interception passes... heheh. Naturally it is difficult for Jets fans to give him credit... too busy hating the man.
great job staying alive, but after that he pretty much heaved it and the WR made a great catch. Not saying the guy hasn't been out of his head this season, but that was pretty lucky.
Reminds me of a Giants game a few years ago (2005?). I think they were playing the Broncos and Eli chucked the ball up off his back foot with his eyes closed and Amani Toomer made a great catch and came down with it. All I heard the next week was "what an amazing throw!"
Matt Cassel threw the same basic pass yesterday at the end of regulation but I didn't hear the media fawning over it.
Let's not be so dramatic. Manning led a fantastic final drive to get them down to the 2, and the play wasn't nearly that bad. He threw while backpedaling away from the rush, but he saw Toomer standing just inside the goal line. High throw to get it over the defenders in his own face, and Toomer came down with it basically uncontested. Good play by Manning and a very nice play by Toomer to release into a wide open space.
