I started to piece together one in Grim Revis' thread, but I didn't want to take anything away from the one he did, so I made my own here. Enjoy.

First off, the trades take away our 3rd (Braylon), 4th (Lito), and 5th (Braylon). Reasoning is there's no way that Braylon gets Pro Bowl level stats, and Lito's worst possible is a 4th (he'll play enough to make it something). We might get a 5th back though, not sure.

    ** On edit, forgot we lost a 7th for O'Connell. thanks nyjets624.

    THE DRAFT

Jets picking at 28, where I had them in the mock I did, which can be found here (PLUG PLUG).

The NYJ's trade down to around pick 40 and pick up 3rd and 7th round picks. I went halfway between the Pats/Pack trade last year (Rd 2, and two 3s) and what we gave up for Dustin Keller (Rd 2, 4, 6).

    That leaves us wiiiith....
    Rd 2 (other)
    Rd 2 (ours)
    Rd 3 (other)
    Rd 6
    Rd 7 (other)

    Showtime:

Rd 2- DT Vince Oghobaase, Duke. The Jets need some DL depth, along with a potential upgrade at defensive end. Mashaunda Ellis still has some kick to him, but they need young blood immediately. Ogho may not be as good a fit, to me, as some others, but that doesn't mean he isn't a player with the skills to be successful. He'd be more in the Richard Seymour style than anything else, with that huge frame and quickness.

Rd 2- OG John Jerry, Ole Miss. A mountain of a human being. John Jerry is a 6-6, 350 pound pile of a man, complete with a mean streak and an affinity for blowing people up in the run game. A great prospect, made better by the fact that the team will have time to whip him into shape before he sees serious action.

Rd 3- OT Kyle Calloway, Iowa. The bookend to super prospect Bryan Bulaga, Calloway is a true right tackle in every way. When he finishes as a Hawkeye he'll have almost 40 starts under Kirk Ferentz, a man that knows his linemen. Could be a nice developmental guy to have behind Damian Woody.

Rd 6- CB A.J. Jefferson, Fresno St. I know what you're thinking, couldn't have found a better picture of him (he's the one getting his face mask stepped on)? Maybe, but I thought it was funny. Either way, Jefferson's value is as a return man, a position that he was at one point perhaps the best in the entire country.

Rd 7- FB Matt Clapp, Oklahoma. Just a pick for some competition in camp. Tony Richardson could hang it up or move on at any time, so why not see if they can get a quality youngster before the UDFA process starts. Clapp has two great qualities I like in fullbacks, a love of hitting people, and unnecessarily long metal hair.

    I like it.
I'm definitely in the camp of those that favor a trade-down to get more picks.
The only thing I might change is reverse it to 2 DE + 1 OL, instead of the 1 DE & 2 OL.
I like Jerry in the 2nd round.

I mostly like it, except I think Jason Davis on our PS squad will be our future starting FB, and we lost a 7th round pick to O'Connell.

Shonn Greene and Calloway wreaked havoc in Iowa together, why not in the pros?

AJ Jefferson's only value would be as a kick returner. He absolutely blows at corner.

Nice mock though - I'd be all for trading down if there's no value when we pick.

Like the trade down and love that you have us taking 3 lineman to start the draft. I haven't seen too much of the duke kid, but what I've heard is all good things. Overall pretty good draft, I like it alot.

Good call on the lost 7th. I'm going to keep Clapp though, because I really think he can be a good NFL player and a true Rex-type of guy.

Yeah it's the 7th round so why not? It could work out and like you said, camp competition helps whoever does start be a better player.

Exactly my thoughts. It's actually pretty hilarious that a google image search for him lists a bunch of different photos of him getting toasted. I had pick of the litter for him.

In my mind, being a returner is a position all to itself, and players can't truly be great at it unless they're devoted to it. Jefferson would come in as just that, a returner, and I think having him focus on that will have him develop into one of the finest in the league. Other teams would see the fact that he's a miserable corner as a negative, I take the opposite.

    * Same deal goes for Leon as well. Having another quality option as a returner can have him focus on being a running back, which could mean real big things for the Jets.

I like the idea of trading down....Pat's blueprint the past few years and 2010 & 2011.

I've been a huge advocate for drafting a 3-4 DE and NT and O-line in the first few rounds. Today's trade paves the way to address our D-Line. O-Line, especially a future starter at Rt is a need. I'd also like to get a versatile O-lineman that can play C/G at a high level to back-up Mangold.

Boo Robinson must get strong consideration for our D-Line.

I really like Ogho, but prefer Wootton, but he probably will be a late rd 1 pick.

Jerry is a monster of a player, and has the pedigree from his brother Peria.

I'm with you on the versatility thing WW, and to be honest, it's hard picking through reports on linemen this early in the draft process. It's easy to rank wideouts and quarterbacks in October, but linemen all fall to personal preference past the first few.

Jerry to me is just a monster, which is why I went with him over a G/C type, but he's unique in that way. Anyone else and I'd have found a more versatile option. As for Calloway, if the Jets do take an OT in the first few rounds, I'd hope they would take a kid with a future at RT, but with the potential to step in at LT in case of injury. Not sure if Kyle is that type, but he's at least played the blindside in the past (moved to RT to make room for Bulaga).

Getting a RT that can swing to LT in an emergency is very important. I'd hate to think of D'Brick going down and who knows who would protect Mark's Blindside. Our O-line is very good, but depth is very shaky.

Another 3-4 DE many people aren't talking about is CJ Wilson, E. Carolina. This kid has big numbers and looks to be a excellent 3-4 DE candidate.

I agree on the direction of this mock. Rd 2 talents for the lines are exactly where we should be going.

I also agree with those asuming, that we will never pay the Eagles anything for Lito. Cut and sign. Yeah baby!

With BE in last year of his contract somebody mentioned, that we would be compensated with a 3rd and a 4th Rd pick if we did not resign him.
Is it possible to make the same kind of arrangement with BE? Let him go. Get extra picks, and then resign him? That would be AWESOME!

Basically we would have gotten BE for Stuckey and Trusnik, and swapped a 5th for a 4th...

I like the positions taken although I'd like to see them pick up another Stuckey type --someone who projects in the slot in the mid-rounds.

We absolutely need more DEs on this team, but this draft should be solely for potential players on the D-Line and O-Line, depth is what is critical to this team at this point were very thin at most positions on the line

I would love to get either Jared Odrick or Corey Wooton in this draft. Both will be stud 34DEs at the next level if they end up in that system.
