He's going to have some issues about being in shape until the combine but he's still the most explosive WR in the draft at this point. I think it's going to affect Zach Robinson's draft stock even more than Bryant's.
here's an article http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5goH2B7OZc14d7JxUZAW4TidyMPBAD9B6FEN00 STILLWATER, Okla. — All-America wide receiver Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible by Oklahoma State for an improper interaction with a former NFL player. Bryant said Wednesday in a statement released by the university that he "made a mistake by not being entirely truthful when meeting with the NCAA." He also apologized to his teammates, coaches, fans and the NCAA.
He won't fall very far, if at all. It may actually help the kid if it means that he'll be working on his workout numbers and getting his 40 up. He's not really a burner, but if he can show speed in workouts then he may actually go higher than if he just had another dominant season with his expected 40.
If we give up nine players for a QB and a WR, and then draft a WR in the first round, I will flip out.
I don't think he'll fall but if he did and we went BPA it'd be hard to find a better player on the board (assuming we pick in the 20's)
Bryant is very similar to Edwards. He's a hell of a player, but there'd be no point in drafting another possession receiver.
They mentioned on the Tony Bruno Show last night that the player was Deion Sanders. I'm sorry, but how stupid do you have to be to affiliate yourself with Deion while you're still in college? The guy has a continued and clear relationship with an agency and is high profile enough that hiding it would be near impossible. Bryant may have just doomed his draft status and, more importantly, his team's chances at the Big 12.
My bet is his draft status will be safe. He has done enough to prove he is among the top WR in this draft. Also, since he is done in college there is no fear of injury between now and the draft! What sucks is the NCAA who does not care if they come out looking shitty in this type of situation. They caught him in a lie and end his college career for it. when in reality he did not violate their rules in the first place, just lied because he was not sure. Dion needs to leave the college kids alone, first Crabtree and now Braynt.
That's the way the NCAA works though...if he played at Texas or USC there would be no punishment. I'm still waiting for the whole Reggie Bush/OJ Mayo gifts thing to play out. Instead they'll go after the weak sisters like FAMU or Alabama State. The days of the NCAA killing their cash cows are over. Their new punishment is taking away wins....wow so you take away a win from 4 years ago that nobody cares about. I can only imagine how Louisiana-Monroe feels that you awarded them a win in a game in which they lost 56-6.
And this is just stupid. The kid lied, didn't actually break any rules. He was scared. He shouldn't have lied, thats obvious...but to take away his season is flat out stupid. It's even more stupid when LeGarrette Blount will most likely play again this year.
well he was going to come out in the draft next year.just needs to stay in shape but it will hurt his draft status
