I feel this guy has done a fantastic job building the current team we have now. Not saying that just because of the Braylon trade but when we need something he gets it. We needed a 3-4 rush LB we signed Calvin Pace. We needed a face a franchise QB we traded up for Sanchez. We needed a replacement for Curtis Martin we traded for Thomas Jones. We had that miserable out of the league whats his face LG we signed Alan Faneca. We needed a top flight CB we traded up for Revis. Same thing for David Harris. We need a big tall explosive WR and now we have Braylon. We needed a coach with some fire and smarts we got Rex Ryan. Yes we spent extra picks and it might have cost us depth but LOOK at the roster and talent we possess. The last time we had a team THIS talented was probably 98. Kudos to Mr. T for making things happen instead of being one of those lame conservative GMs. Sure not every move will work out but than again not a single GM in the NFL has never made a mistake. I hope hes around for a longtime and I just want to say thank you Mike Tannenbaum for making us better each and every year.
whats the next glaring weakness on this team? An outside pass rusher. Hello Julius Peppers next season! Although IDK where we are getting the money to sign Leon and hopefully we want to re-sign Braylon after he plays well for us.
I have to give the GM some credit..the guy has balls. He reminds of the Red Sox GM Theo Epstein. He sees a need and goes after it. Now..let's see how things turn out.
Not so quick there....Would love it, but not gonna happen. I don't think we'd have the salary cap to do so either.
YESS I forgot about Lito my bad lol. Another excellent move. Hell even the Brett Favre trade. Even though it didn't work out I know he's committed to winning and will leave no stone unturned to improve this franchise. Shit if he was the president he might fix the economy quicker than Obama lol
Look , I'm all for what he's done and being aggressive but you gotta put things in perspective. We haven't won anything yet, the Favre fiasco and the fact that LW is still unsigned. So, before we start hand out reacharounds his work isn't flawless.
None of these moves mentioned would have or could have been done without Johnson saying ok. Give Johnson the credit, if you must give it to anyone.
except there is nothing to say that Johnson understands talent and would want these players had someone knowledgeable not told him they were needed. signing the check does not correlate to making the decision, which is what is applauded. way to continuously and proudly live up to your award.
give him credit and thank Abe Elam for being the final key in the Sanchez trade. I'm convinced Johnson wants a super bowl ring despite all his perceived flaws.
Well we can't because IMO there's only 1 reason for Johnsons meddling and that was evident in the Favre fiasco. The fact that tanny can get this stff done is what is impressive but as I said B4, it has it's blemishes
His work isn't flawless but not a single GM in any sport is. The can't do anything wrong Patriots have shit the bed in the last few drafts. This past draft they had 11 picks and only 5 of them made the team including a 2nd 2 3rds and 4th rd picks. All I'm saying is were headed in the right direction. Woody is most certainly committed to winning by signing off on all these deals. Mr. T is the mastermind while Woody is the bank. I like what I'm seeing.
Why would you give Johnson the credit for bringing in these players. I can see giving him a little because he signed off on it but it is all Tannenbaum finding these players and making these deals.
i agree that he wants a super bowl, because a super bowl lines his pockets like nothing you can ever imagine. ill take it though.
and he gets to sit at the owners meeting with a fat ring on his finger. The SB would make him tons of money, but that's what he's supposed to do as an owner. He gives me a memory i'll never forget.
They key is it is very likely 2010 will be played w/o a salary cap, as long as Woody is willing to sign the check it may not matter. This move tells me they feel they can win right now, I never thought I'd feel this way after 4 weeks with a rookie HC and QB but I think we can win right now. As long as Edwards has minimal drops he is a top flight WR. All of a sudden we went from having a mediocre WR corps to one of the top 10 within a few hours...simply amazing.
That's an awesome post... if he brings a SB to the fans of NY I'll sacrifice my 1st born. Ok maybe a little extreme, I'll cut off his finger....
Heard on ESPN this morning that Mike T. had the deal in place early today, and the only problem would be getting Woody to get on board with it because he knew the off-field issues Edwards had in Cleveland. If Woody wanted protect his franchise, he could've turned it down. But Mike did a good job presenting the possibilities that Woody had to sign off on it. Props to both, cause u need both to tango, but Mike T. should be recognized for handling the everyday affairs that come with trades and keeping the lines of communication open. But I get what Don was saying.
