1. I have coached against him two times a year for several years. Yes, he makes some drops. He sometimes loses focus. But, he also makes catches that no other receiver can make. 2. If Miami tries single coverage on him Monday night, he will make a very significant contribution. Yes, he will start. 3. As a defensive coach, if you do not roll your pass coverage toward him, you are asking for big trouble.
if they roll their pass coverage toward him, they're asking for big trouble too. cotchery is still 5th in the NFL in receiving yards.
Not only did Rex coach against him, but Rob Ryan has been watching Braylon everyday for 4 months in practice. he would have told rex if Braylon was too much of a baby or not a good player.
It's a Catch-22! And then there's Keller and Leon underneath! Provided the defense respects Edwards, this whole offense can open up.
wow just got back from time traveling. the jets defeat the miami dolphags 41-6.edwards 8 catches a buck 22 yards and a score.
maybe they will stop stacking the box as much and we can get the run game going. Double coverage on edwards while still having to watch keller and Cotch could do wonders for revitalizing TJ and LW.
I am in a state of euphoria right now... even if Edwards never is the Braylon Edwards of 2 years ago we gave up nothing to make this gamble. Even if is subpar he's still alot better than the WR we traded for him.
This offense is could be nasty if the CS gets him (Edwards) involved right away on Monday night. Sending a message to the Dolphags that we mean business.
This organisation never ceases to amaze me. Not really sure I like the idea of Edwards as a Jet yet though. Shame we lost Stuckey, but I guess the trade is fair.
He was just given a 2nd chance to make some serious cash. That chance was gone in Cleveland and all of a sudden he is playing on a team that if he lives up to expectations could win the SB. All the media attention the Jets are getting is going to be even greater if Edwards busts out and has a big 12 games. That equals alot more money for Edwards and he has to realize this. If not his agent should.
Edwards has the potential and he proved it once to say the least. Maybe Stuckey has potential, but so far hadn't shown much and this is his 3rd yr in NFL. And to say the least, we upgraded the WR spot. They are both 26 yrs old BTW.
The big difference is that Edwards has shown he can play at a Pro Bowl level, Stuckey hasn't proved he can stay healthy for 16 games yet.
