Holy shit. Are you people even considering what this just did to our offense? Now teams have to worry about two wide receivers, a tight end, and a running back tandem that are all legitimate pass catching threats. No more zone coverage. No more double teams on Cotchery. Sanchez is happy this morning. Why aren't you?
Especially becuase he hasnt watched more then 2 browns games in his life and now.. Maybe less zone coverage but trust me there will be zone.
Trading productive players (an up-and-coming special teamer and a reliable receiver) for a name is not a good idea. It's too much, especially for a guy that's likely to implode in the near future. Listening to Boomer & Carton this morning, they said the Cleveland reporters are saying Edwards has a closet full of trouble still to be revealed.
Thats pure speculation, but to not rain on you guys parade, I will agree with you. Damn I think Im more excited than some of you Jets fans. Put it this way, if this trade would have happened in 2007, there wouldnt be 1 person not ecstatic. So he's had an attitude, wouldnt you if you played in CLE and knew you had no chance at success? Cleveland could ruin any players career. I firmly believe he will do great things for you guys. And every WR drops passes now and then, Edwards was just magnified because what else was there to talk about in CLE?
We're happy Alio, but we're not shootin a load over it because he still has a big Question mark over his head. Guys need to Stop making this guy to be a top 10 Receiver in the League, He's not and the Excitement should be reserved.
Stuckey has disappointed this year. He hasn't gotten separation. He should have caught Sancho's first INT. He was definitely expendable. (I'm reading as fast as I can but I can't catch up with this thread. )
i wouldn't call stucky a reliable receiver..... he dropped some passes this year....fell down on an endzone pass....and has yet to prove that he can carry half of the passing game. stucky is a slot receiver....and we traded our slot receiver for a # 1.... i think its a no brainer
Right to the point, great post!! I think in the long run this will work out best for Cotch, they'll be keying in on Edwards and that will leave Cotch to do his thing. Then throw Keller into the mix, this truly is GREAT news.
this is the part i worry about. Edwards could simply balk at us, and walk after the season, and we would give all of this up for a years rent. Not only do I think it is to much right now, it would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much if he is a 1 year guy. Remember a 3 and 5 is what we gave up for Kris JENKINS!!!!!!!!!!! and he is on a whole nother level than edwards is.....
This turns out to be a good week for the Jets - both sides of the ball... Added a key WR on offense, and get Calvin Pace back on defense. Alot to be happy about here.
A big factor that I don't know if anyone talked about is I think Edwards is in his last deal which means if he doesn't resign the Jets can get a 3rd or 4th round pick for compensation. But I think we get a hungry and motivated Edwards honestly and if he does anything like in 2007 he'd kill. He wanted to be in NY(Giants) so for him to land in NYJ its big.
