Did you guys enjoy the city, food, atmosphere, music, locals? Wanted to hear some stories if any of you guys have any. Where did you guys party, eat, etc...? Anybody passed out, hooked up, got arrested? If any Saints fans gave you guys a hard time or was over bearingly rude, I apologize on behalf of our level headed fans.
Hands down one of the best vacations I've ever had. The music and food and party scene was absolutely incredible. We spent most of our time on Bourbon St., one night on Frenchman. We are a pretty hardcore group of alcoholics, most nights out til 3, one night out till 5:30 (we starting drinking during the day every day). People still partying hard when we tapped out. I'm definitely going back there. On the contrary, you were overwhelmingly nice. Obviously we got our balls broken, I got a few people yelling at me for wearing 51 (I think they thought it was a vilma jersey, it was not, it was Bryan Cox). A lot of people walked up to me and shook my hand, something to the tune of "thanks for coming down here to our city and spending your money"
I didn't get down there this time, but go to 'Nawlins for two weeks every year, for the last 10 yrs in a row and 17 out of the last 25 yrs, and have always found it to be absolutely fabulous ... I have never run into a problem, on the contrary the people are generally exceptionally helpful ... Even wearing Jets gear down there, ya' get a bit of ribbing, but none of it mean or nasty ....
I'm sure most of you guys caught this during the game, but in the first quarter after our defense stopped the Saints for the 1st (or held them to a FG) or 2nd time, you heard a small crowd in the audience do the, "J-E-T-S...JETS! JETS! JETS!" chant. I just wanted to take the time out to thank those fans who made it out and represent the team in a hostile environment. Win would've been nice, but at least I hope everyone enjoyed their stay down there.
We spent alot of time on Bourbon St too and came across the one bar that would even do the J E T S chant all day on Fri & Sat. Really great people, more Jet fans than I'd see at an away game. Went to Ryan's Sat night and was so excited to see nothing but a sea of green!
it was an awesome trip. Even though we lost, we met some great fans down there.. We went out all over new orleans, and lived it up. Gumbo Shop was my favorite restaurant, but all the food was great. awesome city, like another poster said, we were thanked countless times for spending our money down there
Totally agree....it was great to read on saintsreport.com about how much fun the Jets fans were having. One Saint's fan said that there were 14 Jets fans sitting in front of him, and they were screaming their lungs out, supporting the Jets. My favorite was the thread, "They have arrived"....that said there were "Tons" of Jets fans all over the French Quarter....LOL...gotta love it! Way to go, Jets fans!
There was this dude just getting down on one knee and startin J E T S chants every time he saw a Jets fan on Bourbon St. saturday night -- it was awesome
That Jets fan that owns The Green Room Lounge on Decatur Street with the Jets Flag out front, is probably happy as can be, for all of the Jets fans that stopped by...sure gave a boost to his economic growth in this pathetic economy!
Best drinks/food, historic fun crazy party town on the planet. Go for it! And ROMANTIC, as well, your wife will love it. That southern hospitality/charm is the best!
At your own risk!!! Everyone has a camera these days....the Letterdude is in a big fat mess...was an affair worth 2 million????!!!! LOL...and now he is crying like a baby on national TV that his wife may leave him...DUH... Just hope that your wife does not read your posts. hmy:
Well absolutely we thank you guys for coming down and spending your money, especially in this economy. Our city thrives off tourism and I feel our locals have a pretty good grasp on how to treat tourists and respect you guys coming down. Im sure opposing team fans will get light ribbing, but thats part of the game. NOLA always has something going down throughout the year. Jazz fest & Mardi gras are our most popular events, and both should be on your bucket list, especially Mardi Gras. Its really the best free party in the world. Jazz fest is huge but can get expensive. Again, thank you guys, glad yall had a good time and a return trip is a must. There's just no way to get to everything in a weekend trip. Good luck the rest of the way and I will be rooting for you guys, ESPECIALLY against ATL & the rest of the NFC South.
