Well, tyring to assume that some of the posters around here are very young keeps me from snapping on alot of people. I can be a asshole when I want to and try to curb it a bit now and again.

I just looked at the OP and though he may be seriously questioning the arm of Sanchez himself and decided to point out that his arm is fine.

    We need a WR

We have a bunch of smallish WR's running around and unless the play call is perfect, they do not get separation. I love Cotcherry but he's a perfect complimentary WR. Stuckey is a lsot guy at best. Smith is useless as a WR. Clowney is nowhere to be seen.

It is the one glaring need we chose not to address. I understand why (no way we're trading Harris or giving up a #1) but it does show up on Sundays.

Anyone see the Denver game? Orton basically threw game-winning TD up for grabs and Marshall took it over the top of Newman and then ran around 4 guys to score. That's what a 6'4" elite #1 WR does. The pass doesn't have to be perfect. And the WR doesn't have to be 2 steps in the clear.

Eli lived off that for years with Plax. And Brady's stats went to the stratosphere once Moss joined him.

You don't need one ot win, but it sure helps. And it would sure help Sanchez when he's in trouble.

With this in mind, is Marcus Henry (on the practice squad) a player? He's definitely big, though not that fast. Been on the practice squad for 2 years now. He's got to be better than Brad Smith. And if we aren't going to throw to Clowney then try someone else.

That said I love this team. More than any team since 98.

Wide Receiver will eventually be solved one way or another. Rather it be Clowney steps up, trade for one, sign one in FA or draft one. It will be solved

Yes he is a player, a practice squad player.

He's listed at 6'4" 212. Measured at 6'3.5" If you think of that a big for the NFL, that is up to you. He was clocked at 4.5 if you think of that as not that fast, that is up to you.

No actually he has been on the practice squad for 1 year. He is only beginning his second year.

No actually he doesn't have to be better than Brad Smith he could be the same as Brad Smith and he could also be worse than Brad Smith.

    Clowney runs a 4.37-4.4 40.

And the team loves you too.

You're right, they have this stud wideout that they are hiding on the practice squad, like a secret weapon, and they are saving him for when we get to the tough part of our schedule.

    Wait...

    Deep Ball.

Sanchez can go deep just fine. As someone else mentioned, the saints were really coming with the blitz at times so he probably wouldn't have had time for the go route in many situations.

I would have liked to have seen a play action -> deep pass on that one third and one(?) where they put Sanchez in the shotgun with no back. Even if it doesn't succeed it at least keeps the defense honest.

i dont think teams "dared him to throw deep" i think the play calling continues to be overly conservative. the offense has basically been watered down to short slants and sideline comback routes...

we arent seeing many double moves, deep ins, posts, corners or seam routes. not even deep stuff but the intermediate routes arent there. teams eventually learn and jump those... more of jumping the tendency then daring the deep pass.

shotty seems to want to be ultra conservative against these good offenses. we saw it week 2 vs the pats in the first half.

I don't think it's a lack of respect for his arm as he has show when given teh chance he can air it out. I think it's more a lck of respect of teh playcalling and our WRs.

Cotch is a great underneath receiver, he's big and strong can break tackles and make people miss in the open field. But, he doesn't have great vertical speed and he doesn't separate well from corners deep. Like many people have said earlier, our offense would be nearly unstoppable if we had another good WR opposite him. Stuckey isn't a bad player but he doesn't seem entirely comfortable split out wide. He seems much better in the slot

Unless somebody emerges as a reliable target, except these kind of struggles in our passing game and a more conservative play call

What the hell is to respect? The other teams have watched the tapes with Schotty as the OC. They see that we run trick plays, and not a conventional offense.

I would love to see us start stretching the field to open up the box, and then pound the ball to open up the play action passes, thus opening up the deep ball. We are so predictable, I can almost pick out what we are going to do. And I have zero time to analyze games.
