Look -- we were not going to go 16-0 or 15-1 or 14-2 or whatever. ALSO -- if you told me if i could pick a way to lose -- it would be this -- that the offense sputtered -- because -- you are going to get days like this from a rookie qb. The defense showed that it is for real. NOW: Miami Buff Oak Buff.... In the past we'd screw 2 of these up.
If the Jets don't go 4-0, I'll be disappointed. I can accept 3-1, but the 3 divisional games must be won.
We actually play Miami twice, not Buffalo. But still, we can't F these games up. If we get picked off in one and go 3-1 I can't complain about a 6-2 start. As long as Sanchez doesn't F up like he did today we should win those games.
These are definately 4 I'm gonna call must wins... if we are serious about competing for a championship than 4-0 is a must. Championship teams don't lose to these 3 scrubs. I look at it this way...we have an oppurtunity to essentially end both Miami and Buffalo's season before week 8. Couldn't ask for more than that...
I don't believe in "moral victories" either, but I can take certain things from a loss. Sanchez had a poor game. He made the rookie mistakes that we all should have been waiting for. He has problems with ball control, and had some mental breakdowns. These are things I expect from a rookie QB, and we have one who has demonstrated an ability to learn and adjust quickly. I'd expect a vast improvement next week. I'm happy as fuck about our defense. The fate of this team rests on how many "rookie games" Sanchez has and when they come. I'm perfectly fine with that. Also, I'll take games like this OOC any day of the week, as opposed to in conference.
At least one of your teams won this weekend... mine gave up 773 yards of offense to our rival. At least your Cardinal are in 1st place.
I don't know, today we learned that our offense (on occasion) can score more for our opponents then they do for us. The d is the real deal but when our o gives 14 points away we will loose alot of games. I say we will probably go 3 and 1 over the next 4 with another day like today thrown in to keep us humble!
I knew that...(thanks). The point is that only ELITE teams go better than 12-4. So -- realistically -- youd have to think -- even if you are the ultimate sunshiner - that this team would lose 4-5 games. This is one of the games that youd have counted. @NO along with: @NE @INDY then maybe one more divisional game and maybe Atlanta or Carolina. (I know Carolina stinks now).
That was about as satisfying a loss as there is in football. The D proved they are for real, not that I didn't think they were for real before that game but shutting down the best O in the league without 3 key pieces was mighty impressive. We are not going to play a better team than NO the rest of the year.
i don't know about this satisfying loss thing or being ok with it i'm in a pretty shitty mood and think we could have won and should have won this game. I think the saints are a good team but we're giving a *little* too much credit to the saints (i.e. they're the best team in the league, best team we'll play the rest of the season). are they a top 3 team possibly? they might be...top 5 team? definitely, but lets be real. If this loss was to the colts, we'd probably be less upset. i think the only thing is that it could have been worse, since we didn't lose to a divisional opponent and sanchez had his first real hiccup against a good team in a tough building. either way it's over....move on. we need to take care of business against the mediocre teams on our schedule
Agreed....and though Oakland is not as important, this is one team we always have issues with. I really want to see Rex clean up all these old demons. Im really hoping for 7-1 when we get to the bye week.
for those feeling bad about our band of lunatics shutting down the #1 offense in the NFL, try to imagine how much worse you'd be feeling if we're trying to figure out 'what went wrong' after getting blown out by the raiders. that ain't gonna happen, just saying. there are no 'moral victories', but there could be a lot worse losses. just saying.
We have a very stout D that will win us some games. What we don't have that we thought we had was a top tier NFL OL and running game to go with it. Thomas Jones isn't all that good and Fanecca and Woody are getting long in the tooth.
@Broncos Titans @Bucs Bye The patriots have a chance of losing but its highly unlikely. If the jets are looking to compete this year they have to go 4-0.
Actually we don't. We need to win our division games plus any other 3 and it's highly unlikely we aren't in the playoffs.
I hate losing more than anyone but yesterday's game will be good for us in the long run. Sanchez was bound to have a game like this and our team still battled back and had a chance in the 4th qtr. I'm proud of the way our guys fought and I'm glad it was a non-conf loss. I am more confident in this team today than I was yesterday as silly as that sounds.
I'd love 7-1 at the bye week ... I wouldn't be crushed with 6-2 ... Hell most "experts" were saying we would be 0-4 at this point ... 6-2 at the break and 11-5 for the season would be fine by me ... ( Although 12-4 or better works too )
Looking at our opening 4 games this season I expected us to beat the Texans and lose the other three so to be 3-1 rather than 1-3 seems pretty good to me, and its not as though the team stunk it up in this game, there were just a few rookie errors and an off day by the O-Line, nothing to get all drama-rama about.
