Besides the Colts, I can't see them possibly losing another game. Band of Lunatics vs. Fish, Bills, Raiders, Fish, Jaguars, Pats, Panthers, Bills, Bucs, Falcons*, Colts, Bengals. *MAYBE the Falcons, and a 13-3 final. They made mistakes but held one of the best offenses in the league to minimum damage. Sancez moves on - Jones gets more involved and they bang out the next 4 easily. Don't lose sleep we're still playing with house money.
still too early the D is obviously great but the O is not very good right now. Still can't run with any consistency.
A little optimistic, no? Are you pretty sure that the Jets will win all of the "winnable" games on their schedule? Think the Pats will be a cakewalk the 2nd time we face them?
if our offense doesn't find its run game, it will be easy for defenses in this league to key off a one dimensional offense. that's higly optimistic, but hey, i can't hate you for wanting the jets to do well i do, however, take the "one game at a time" approach. admittedly we're doing better than i would've guessed. so... we got that going for us.
We aren't going 14-2 with a rookie QB. There will be more rookie moments this season. If they only happen once every 4 games, we'll be in good shape.
Unfortunately the Jets defense can't prevent the Jets offense from giving up points. Sanchez has been way better than I expected so far, but he will have games like this.
Lets not get carried away. We have to be prepared for more growing pains like Sanchez had today. We will lose a game or two that we are supposed to win.
Pats are tough at home, thats an L Probably get upset by someone like MIA thats an L IND is an L, especially on the road. We will probably give up a game to either ATL or CIN but that's still a strong record IMHO. Now if Jenkins gets hurt anywhere though....different story.
Agreed. This defense is NASTY! And Calvin Pace is going to bring us to another level. This defense can carry us far, we just have to figure out the running game. Hopefully Greene is ok, we probably dont need him next week or the week after against the Bills, so rest him if need be.
The Pats will be tough. They are much improved from when we barely beat them. besides, does this D actually ever sack a qb?
I think that's a little too optimistic, but based on how everyone's looked the first month of the season, our schedules looks really nice...I hadn't noticed this. There are, I'd say, 7 games we should really win, and then if we go 2-3 with the remaining 5 we'd be 12-4. Not that that's gonna happen, but that isn't crazy to say. Who are we losing to out of this group: Bills x2, Bengals, Jags, Raiders, Bucs, Panthers...Maybe we drop one against the Panthers or Jags, but that's a nice schedule, I have to say.
We could go 14-2 if the running game were going to be consitant, but so far this season it hasn't been so 10-6 I think is a more reasonable hope. Sanchez for a rookie has looked great, but he has three things holding him back right now, two of the three probably will correct themselves with experience. The two that should correct themselves as he learns the game is to stop locking onto his recievers and telegraphing his target. the second is to learn to read defenses quicker. Those two should correct themselves to some degree anyways as he gains experience. Yes his interceptions are high right now but that should decrease substantially when he stops locking onto receivers and telegraphing his target. The third is a concern, his fumbles. I've been a football fan for 40 years now and one thing that I've seen is that if a QB has fumble issues they tend to stay with them through out their careers. I don't know what thats the case, but I can't off hand think of more than maybe one QB who had fumble issues that managed to really reel them in. That said we played one helluva game on defense against a very explosive offense that has no shortarge of weapons. If the league wasn't talking about the Jets defense before this game they definitely are now....And this with one Outside linebacker and 2 CB's out. Personally I think Lowery in this defensive scheme benefits, with pressure on the QB he doesn't have to provide extended coverage. The one knock I have on the defense thus far, and it's a relatively minor knock, is their lack of ability to create turnovers this year. But given the overall performance of the defense that almsot feels like nitpicking.
Sacks are sexy but I'll take consistant pressure and rushed passes over an occaisional sack with inconsistant pressure
