Code: Jets CBs Lito Sheppard (quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (ankle) missed practice for the second straight day. The Jets are expected to be without both corners at New Orleans. They weren't missed last week against the Titans at home, but Drew Brees is better equipped than Kerry Collins to exploit Dwight Lowery and Drew Coleman. Code: Source: Newark Star-Ledger
This....is not good. I really hope we can put more pressure on brees than we did against collins because brees will pick coleman apart if we dont.
One thing about having coaches like Sean Payton & Rex Ryan, guys I believe who are the best at their crafts, offensively & defensively respectfully, is that they will game plan around their short comings. SP will give our back up LT help & RR will give you guys DBs help, by scheme. Im not concerned who isnt out there compared to who is out there.
Just read the NJ.com article. Ryan says both are "iffy" and that Sheppard is "coming around" and is running in practice. Sheppard says they are just being careful.
I think even if they are "iffy" they will play. We don't need them healthy against Miami, we need them NOw. Now is not the time to be careful.
They are out for this game- It's already been stated. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/10/ny_jets_backfield_banged_up_he.html The DC has confirmed this I believe.
I have seen nothing confirmed, and that is the exact article I was referring to. Notice Ryan states there that Sheppard is running in practice. The wording of the "expected to be out" seems to be writer opinion.
The truth is that last week, our D wasn't at the top of its game. We got a little lucky that Collins wasn't accurate and the Titans dropped some passes. As a poster indicated earlier, that will not work with the Saints. Minus Pace, Lito, and Strickland, I'm not feeling to good about stopping Brees and company this week. Maybe we can stop them just enough though and our offense steps up. I'm not feeling a low-scoring game.
No, I'm sorry, rotoworld is wrong. I have a source. Look...! Lito and/or Strickland injuries not serious

Again, their opinion. Sheppard was running yesterday per REX RYAN. When he says they are out, I will believe it. Until then, all speculation.
Gotcha!! I want them in, but with every paper reporting the same thing I'd be surprised if they played. I know Sheppard wants to play so hopefully we can get him in there. It's not worth rushing them out there if they are hurt, we need them for the long haul.
I know it is not you reporting it. I just have the same hope that at least Sheppard plays. Lowery would be fine at nickleback.
It's a lot harder for a man-cover corner to blanket a wideout in the rain than it is for a wideout to run his routes cleanly. Especially when they are using comeback routes like the Tits were using last week. I think our depleted secondary will have a better week in a dry dome than they did on the SlipNSlide. Not saying they'll be lights-out, but they won't be exposed as much. Coleman is a concern for me, Lowery not as much.
