I am thinking this game is maybe the most difficult opponent we're going to face all year. On both sides of the ball we have our work cut out for us, and in their house, no less. 120 points in 3 games... I think Golic said it best this morning. If we have to get into a shootout with NO the odds of them coming out on top go up dramatically. If we can hold the scores in the mid teens going into the 4th quarter, we may have a shot. Yes, a win in this one would be awesome.
I win on the road against this team is a tall order…it would be something else. The saints are a really good team…Drew Breese is about the best there is at the present time. Plus – I would say the saints are coming off a disappointing season where they were a way better football team then they showed so they aren’t taking anyone lightly. I can’t wait to see what we’ve got…not really sure what to expect. Come Sunday night around here there will either be 400 ‘Superbowl’ threads or 400 the sky is falling, Sanchez sucks, Gholston blows and we would have won that game with Chad threads. I’d prefer the superbowl threads for sure.
I have been telling everybody at work this week - the Saints' aren't putting more than a 20 spot on the scoreboard. Nobody believes me. Well, my manager does, but only after I told him a few days before the Texans game that the Jets are a top 5 defense and he shouldn't start Andre Johnson on his fantasy team because Revis would shut him down.
Well put. The Pats and Colts on the road will be 2 tough games but they will be later in the season and I think we will be more in sync by then. This is a big test this early in the season.
beating NE twice is definitely harder than beating NO once, but I agree, this is our biggest first half test BY FAR. I really can't wait to see it.
I hate having these matchups when were not 100%, because I don't want to hear excuses. If we can get pressure on the QB our d-backs can more then handle their coverage. The Eagles backup put up more then 300 yards in passing on this defense, I know the Eagles have more offensive weapons. I just hope Schotty will give Mark access to the full playbook so we can see what this kid can really do. I full expect Cotch and Keller to have huge games. I'm confident we will leave NO with another W.
Amen brother.....I'm anticipating the defense to slap Brees around. "Pussy football" is not synonymous with the Jets anymore.
It is tough without Pace in this game, his pass rush will be surely missed more than it has so far this season.... Add to that the fact that our secondary is nicked up and we have our work cut out for us. This may be the game where the D doesn't handle the majority of the game and the O Line steps up and wins this game with 200 yards on the ground between Leon, TJ and SG... Play action passes, screens and just straight up the middle pounding!!!!! Lets go Jets!
I had a dream that the score was 24-21 Jets with a furious defensive stand in the closing minutes. Will be playing 2421 today and tomorrow.
If the Jets can stop Brees from throwing more than two TDs, we win by at least 7. He throws 3, and we're lucky to walk out with a FG on the final drive win. He throws more than that, we're toast. I expect Brees to throw 2 TDs. A huge statement will be made by the defense this week, just in time to welcome back Pace. Chad will be feeling a lot better about this past week come Sunday evening.
Of course I want the Jets to win in the worst way. If they don't, it's not the end of the world. Hehe, I had a NYC Thelma & Louise jaunt planned w/ a childhood friend of mine for this weekend since July. I'm leaving soon, actually. Originally we were staying until Monday, but I said F that and cut it a day short so I can watch the game from home on Sunday. It's an illness, I tell ya.
Yes, we HAVE TO run the ball this week. If we don't run the ball, we lose IMO. Defensively, if the D can keep Brees off the field, he can't run up the score. I think our Def is capable of getting the stops and keeping their offense pretty much off the field for the most part. At least stopping them from scoring like 31-40 points. The trick is then going to be ball control, 3rd down conversions and more ball control... time of posession. We have to be able to run the ball and convert. Control the clock and score, but eat up portions of the clock doing it. This puts tremendous pressure on the O-line this week... tremendous. They either show up or they don't. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan going all out with different looks... introduce Shonn Greene out there too. What better day to put in an unkown? Somebody they haven't watched on film? It would light a fire under Jones too, and the entire O-line. I'm going to be VERY surprised if Greene is not in on some plays this week. It's the perfect day to get him out there.
nobody scores more then 27. thats all i can guarantee. but I wouldnt be surprised either W or L. were fully capable of winning this game. the front 7 just has to get penetration. plain and simple. although I'm beyond skeptic of the Saints top ranked defense. like i said only players I respect on that d are Will Smith, Vilma (only in a 4-3), and Sharper. long as Sanchez doesnt get cute and give them the ball we should be fine. I feel their front 7 is softer than advertised and we should pound the ball just to keep them honest. and if they want to pressure Sanchez, fine hes made all the right throws when it matters. but use the run to setup the pass just like we have been. although with drew coleman playing thats iffy on stopping big plays. we just need to play like weve been playing and the rest will take care of itself.
