So would you not hate me if I say I think our team will fall flat on their face in the wake of Rex ryans blitzes, that you guys running game will come to life in week 4, that the rookie QB will not make any mistakes on the road & throw for 300 yds & 2 TDs? Well hate me then, Im not buying that. I will give the Jets credit for being a good team. But we are at home, havent been home in 2 weeks, our D is playing good ball, our running game is strong, our passing game & QB are above average, its a 3:00 start so the crowd will be loud, our STs are solid and our team & coach has matured alot in the last 2 years of missing the playoffs. Sorry for having confidence in my team.
If the saint fans feel confident then good for them. I feel confident rex ryan feels confident and so does the rest of the jets. Both teams will be showing up for this game.
Jets 27-13 Saints ***AND the Player of the Game.....Vernon Gholston. And yes, I'm serious. He's fighting for his job this week. Time to come correct.
Defensively, this game is going to come down to Drew Brees ability to throw. Ryan's defense is about pressure on the quarter back. It helps to have good DB's that can cover man down the filed (see Revis Island), but its still going to have to be pressure. The Saints have a dynamic offense, and they are going to create mismatches on a lot of plays. They might not have a single player as dynamic as Chris Johnson, but they have a lot of options.... I think they key to the game is going to be if we can keep them out of the endzone, hold them to field goals. IMO, Jets will need to score 25+ points in this game to ensure a victory. However, it's not like we've beaten slouches these past couple of weeks... Our guys are going to be playing with confidence just as much as the saints you can believe that. Going to be a great game, I'm really excited.
You'll be singing a different tune after Sunday if the Jets decide to constantly blitz 6+ players. Saints run a zone blocking scheme so the thought that having a 3-4 so they don't know where that 4th guy is coming from is obsolete. The Jets DLine is just going to have to man up and beat the Saints' blockers. If they can't they need to get their hands up and tip some passes. That's typically also what's killed the Saints. There's a reason why teams like the Rams' "Greatest Show on Turf" and the Patriots in 07 were slowed by Tampa 2 and killed man to man defenses. You don't want to have you back to the ball against these offenses. These guys WANT teams to blitz them and play man.
This is why you play the games. No problems with confidence man. See my post above, I think you're team has the most dynamic offense in the league... But, as "banged up" as our secondary is, all of our key players on defense are going to play, and believe that it's going to be the best unit you've faced this year.
i want to be optimistic about us going into New Orleans and getting the win, but our secondary is battered. We need Sheppard this game, and strickland has been underrated for us this year. Lowery got pick on alot last week....and maybe the twitter distraction will light a fire under clowneys ass so he can start playing... but with no trash talk this week...our team seems like its losing steam...they dont seem pumped like we were for new england...and we slowed down alot vs the titans..so idk....i wanna say we lose to the saints 27-10...im just bein honest
No. Just when you see that a majority of the predictions call for a blowout W for NO, it's evident alot of the koolaid has been taken out of the fridge. I see a close game, and I see no reason why the NYJ can't win this game.
True, to a certain extent. However, let's be careful before we put the New Orleans offense in the same category as the two above mentioned offenses. It's going to be interesting to see how Brees handles this pressure. Matt Schaub had a horrible game against the jets, and I honestly don't really believe the hype around him -- think he's an average QB at best. Brady and Collins were both moderately effective because they're both taller quarterbacks and focused (especially brady) on getting the ball out of their hands as soon as possible. Collins was slightly more effective because the jets were worried about Chris Johnson and didn't blitz as consistently. We'll see if Brees can shift around and find some throwing lanes. PS-- something got lost in our whole arguement here. Win or lose this week end, check out our young quarter back this weekend. I think that he projects to be a Drew Brees, smaller quarter back with a rocket arm who is creative in the pocket and throws well on the run. For some reason the way he uses his shoulders to pivot and throw and the way the ball comes out of his hand remind me a lot of brees....
just because there is no trash talk?? so what if the media isn't lit up with Jets quotes. This team doesn't lose focus due to not having enough quotes in the media - this is a Rex Ryan team. They don't lose focus
About the Saints defense. So far they've played exactly as they were supposed to in every game, taken advantage of opportunities, created turnovers whenever possible and played prevent when necessary. The stats and scores tell a very misleading story. Let me sum up the games for you. Lions: in the first week, most of those 27 points were not the defense's fault. The Lions had one honest drive that we held to FG. They had another 7 when our starting corner sat one play and Calvin Johnson made a huge play on the rookie backup corner. Only 10 more points were scored when our special teams gave up terrible field position (two KO returns and one Bush fumble) inside the 20. The final 7 points came on a Bell fumble returned for a TD (defense didn't have a chance to stop that). Having observed the game, the defense played very well given what they had to work with. I blame most of this on first game jitters by special teams. It's a common problem in the league. Eagles: our D kept the game close (14 to 10) in the first half in response to the Eagles D playing well in the first quarter. Kolb actually played well in the first half for the most part: he made very few mistakes and none we managed to capitalize on. Then the second half opened with a Jenkins strip, Saints TD, Kolb pressured into an interception and just like that it's 28 to 10 and the rest of the game is garbage time (prevent defense giving up 10 more points and the offense intentionally taking a safety). Bills: The O was getting pressured from just the Bill's front four and perhaps the wind was limiting pass effectiveness. Consequently, we couldn't score more than the opening drive TD and one more FG until the 4th quarter. Our D responded by shutting the Bills down even worse. The Bills got 7 on a fake FG and that's it. We likely would have let up and they would have got some garbage points, except we went from 10 to 27 points all in the last 10 minutes of the game. The truth is, we don't know how good the Saints D is yet. They haven't been properly challenged. I'm not convinced the Jets O is particularly better than any of the O's we've played so far. The Bills game was ruined by weather, but even looking at the Lions and the Eagles with Kolb... Kolb was solid until the game got out of hand (granted he helped cause it after the special teams started it). Stafford didn't play very brilliantly, but we got ahead of the Lions so quickly that he didn't have much time to play an honest game. Just some things to think about.
Unless Sanchez loses his mind and starts making rookie mistakes, it wont be a blow out. But ican promise you one thing, if the Jets O goes 3 & out on 7 consecutive drives the way it did vs. TEN, it will be a blowout. Brees & co. cant be given that many opportunities, they will capitolize eventually. One thing about Brees, as nice as he is off the field, he is a quiet assasin on the field. What I mean is if he finds a weak spot (Lowery) he will exploit it repeatedly until shown its no longer working. I am confident mainly because we are at home, if we were on the road, I would be singing a totally different tune. But as mentioned, thats why the game is played, anything can happen on any given Sunday.
if sheppard and strickland are back we have a good shot at winning. if lowery and coleman are in i dont see a win against n.o. and drew breese.
Sheppard or Strickland hasnt practiced all week. even if they come back, how efective will they be? We have played Sheppard numerous times when he was in Philly, he doesnt scare Drew.
Well Reeves was Superman and Revis is pretty close to that so i can see that it could just be an honest mistake. As far as the game goes, our line has to collapse the pocket allowing our LB's to get to Brees. As good as he is on the run he's MURDER when given time. I'd personally like to see Rex get Greene in the mix at RB. Our offense is gonna have to put up at least 28 points to win this game in my opinion. As great as our defense has played i still can't imagine Brees not putting at least 21 points on the board.
I don't know how you can go to any message board and be pissed off because the fans of that team think they're gonna win. It's the same thing here, there are plenty of kool-aid chuggers here as well. Honestly I don't see the Jets O being able to keep up with their O. If we are going to win we are going to need to force at least 3 TO's in the game and at least get 3 points out of all of them. These guys might be the best team we face all year and it's in thier house. IMO this is a really bad spot for us but I think we can win. I love everything about the Saints except they're playing us this week. Honestly I don't know how any football fan can watch them and not like them. IMO they are as fun to watch as any team in he league.
I keep hearing saints fans talk about they only give up points when they play the prevent defense. i'm glad we don't play that pussy shit anymore.
Thats because you guys havent been up by 3 scores in the 3rd quarter, where the only way a team can come back on you is if you give up big plays for TDs. So why not let them throw short routes, keep them in bounds and allow the clock to run. And we havent given up points in the prevent, we've given up alot of BS passing yards.
