In case no one realizes, this is exactly what Chad Johnson aka Ocho Mierda used to do a few years back...
Um I love Revis as much as the next guy, but Kenny Britt was definitely giving him some problems on Sunday. Granted, he is much taller and Collins was throwing PERFECT balls to him. 4 passes for 60 yards is worse than usual for Darrelle.
^ he wasn't always on Britt. He was on Washington and Gage too. The stat lines don't tell a fraction of the story. The WRs caught 4 balls on him for about 40 yards. Thats horrible for opposing Wideouts. Revis did his job.
Nice List. Colston doesn't need to have 100yd game or a TD for New Orelans to win. Considering we are expecting a heavy blitz from The Jets you can expect to see heavy Run and alot of underneath passes. 67
Doubt the Jets throw heavy blitzes this week. If they do, there are a ton of weapons that can beat it. Revis will shut down Colston.
Lets not forget that it took perfect passes to beat him, since he was millimeters away on most of them. The one where he got beat bad was the drag by Washington I think, but those are pretty tough to defend no matter who you are.
I think that injury hurt him more than he let on. I'm working on a game review now and noticed that Revis gave up six passes between covering Britt, Washington, and Gage. Of these six I believe one was dropped, but hit the WR (Washington?) right in the hands. Before I get blasted by everyone let me say I THINK REVIS IS A GREAT CORNER But Sunday's game was not one of his best. It took extremely accurate passes from Collins to beat him and he was always in single coverage when beaten (ie not obviously breaking away from a zone and/or had no safety/underneath help). I'm sure it was the injury (not that he can't have a bad game once is 3 years) but to say this last performance was Revis-esque just isn't true.
I'm not sure you should have Colston up there. I really wouldn't expect Revis to be on Colston all day. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I think he only sees the field about 2/3 of the time. The Saints run these guys in and out of the lineup at will. Plus it makes things difficult for how the Jets might want to defend the Saints. They move Colston all over the field. He plays a lot in the slot and does most of his work over the middle, but he also lines up a ton on both the right and left ends of the field. If they want to put Revis on Colston every play, they'll keep him in the slot and matchup to force the Jets to play man to man. Saints kill teams that run mostly man to man, no matter how good their corners are (see Eagles this year, Packers last year). Jets are going to want to play a lot of zone in this game, thus basically nullifying Colston from this list. I'm salivating over this game. Can't wait to watch the tape on how Payton deicides to attack Ryan's defense and how Ryan decides to attack Payton's offense.
Chalk another one. what was it two catches? And im pretty sure neither was made while Revis was on coverage
yeah i believe it was 6 yards to Henderson. But Colston did have one go through his hands with Revis on him. Yeah it was going to be a tough grab, but one you expect from Colston. granted that still was only like 12 yards down the field. so either way, awesome work by Revis.
revis didnt give up any passes and was targeted 5 times.. the site that keeps the cornerback stats also says that..
I don't know if Holt should be on that list. He's really not that good anymore and probably isn't the Jags best wr right now.
