Say what you will about the guy, but this is a sad way for him to end his career.

He was a class act. And even if he ended up playing for the hated Phish, he still started his career as a JET.

I just he deserved a moment of our hopes for a good recovery. Even if he can't play again.

Is he officially retiring? That's a real shame. And I just bought his jersey for 10 bucks from Jets shop.

He gave us that memorable 2002 season and for that I thank him. He could've been a good QB but just couldn't stay healthy, it's a shame.

Yeah. he has been placed on IR. Sad.

Chad is one of my favorites and always will be. I agree it is sad to see it happen to him again no matter how you feel about him as a player.

He's out for the season and since he's a Free Agent next season, at BEST he'll end up on the bench for some team hurting at QB

Most accurate passer in the history of the modern NFL.

...every time I think that, the next thought in my head is "...really?! Chad?" Still haven't got used to that notion.

No, don't you guys see? This is part of his grand plan to win a third "comeback player of the year" award!

You know how it goes with Pennington, good year, injured, good year (award!), injured, good year (award!), now this is his injury year, so obviously next year he's planning on being comeback player of the year again.

Haha, yeah. I do hope he recovers and is able to come back but it's hard to imagine he will after three throwing-shoulder injuries. I've always liked and respected him.

Maybe now he'll look into life after the NFL. Unless he wants to become this generation's Earl Campbell, he'd better hang up his cleats and grab a coaching position somewhere. He's smart enough to be a coach too and probably will be one day should he choose that route. Perhaps Earl Campbell should give Chad a call on a rainy day when that shoulder of his is aching. This has to be a wakeup call for Pennington..

Time to move on to life after Football Chad.
