I like Bryant because he has the body control with amazing leapin ability and great hands that are HUGE.He also can return punts and kicks and takes mulitple tacklers to take him down.
I'm expecting the Jets to finish approx 8-8 at best, so Berry and Mays would be long gone. If by some chance we have an opportunity to draft either player...it's a no brainer. The Jets need to be looking at WR, DT and DE in the Rds 1-3......but BPA does apply if a special player falls. As far as more picks, we need to trade down to acquire more picks......Tanny has been trading up more often of late. New England does a great job of getting Rd 2 picks....good players at a good value.
In a perfect world everybody wud trade down, new england hasnt had many specific need positions in a couple of years so they have been able to do that. I c tanny trading up again cause thats been the philosophy so ii dont c it changing. As far as the draft i would like Bryant over Benn he just impresses with his abilty to just takeover games.
I don't believe everyone should trade down, it depends on your needs, the situation and who is available (slipping). Perfect example would be David Harris. Tanny saw Harris slipping and traded up with Green Bay. Trading up to get Sanchez was a no brainer, same with trading up to get Revis...nice moves. New England is masterful in getting rd 2 picks...trade downs and trading players. Belichick sees very good players in Rd 2 at a good value. I believe as the Jet's roster get stronger, Tanny's philosphy should change and look at trading down, when feasible, to get more picks....as you mentioned about New England's drafting. I'm still rating Benn higher than Bryant by a whisker......I just see Benn's Size/Speed and playmaking ability a tad better than Bryant's. It just a matter of personal preference...Bryant is a terrific talent. Let's see how both players do this year...subject to change. Bryant has the better playmakers around him.....QB, RB & WRs.
I prefer Benn to Bryant because it seems a little harder to take him out of the game. Bryant can be bumped at the line with some success. If Mount Cody is still on the board when the Jets pick though I'd love to see them snatch him up. He's a monster.
It depends on what Rex Ryan wants...we know Rhodes isn't going anywhere and so far this season Jimmy Leonhard has looked like a complete baller. If either fall to us, we'd have a very coveted pick. If Ryan thinks we're fine at safety, trade the pick for a fortune.
Mays is the only one who has a shot to fall to us and unless we have a really bad remaining 13 games I don't see either one available. Defensive line and wide receiver should be the priority and fortunately for the Jets this draft should be pretty deep at those positions.
I agree that the backfield seems to be working, and that the way we play, neither Berry or Mays will be available when we pick. If all the top WRs are gone when we pick, how about just adressing the DL in the first two round? That could make this defense even more scary, and sure the DL up for years.
Guys.......Berry and Mays are going to be long gone when the Jets are OTC...the way the season is progressing. Berry's a top 5 pick ...May's a top 10. Safety isn't going to be a priority. DE/DT, WR and maybe a 3-4 OLB.... Selvie might be available in a later rd 1. The Gholston experiment as a 3-4 OLB...is dead in the water.
Did you even watch Landry play in college? The biggest thing Mays has going for him are his mensurables and Landry's were just as good coming out and he made a lot more plays on the field.
Of course!!! As all around player....I like Mays coming into the NFL better than Landry. I never disliked Landry,a great player at LSU, but I like May's upside better in the NFL. I don't understand alot of the hate for Mays, he has all the talent to be an outstanding NFL player.
I like Mays and I think he'll be a good player just not a star, he's not a play maker, but he does his job and takes away the deep ball.
people dont like Mays because he is more known as a workout wonder than a player and we all know how workout wonders tend to do in the NFL. However, Mays is probably an acception
Nice post!!! You're preaching to the choir. The 3 Big time receivers...Benn, Bryant and Williams will be a memory the way the Jets are playing. Williams may last till the 20 area in Rd 1. There are some really good DLine prospects in Late rd 1 into Rd 2.....this draft is perfect to upgrade our line. Some players I like that might be available in late Rd 1 and Rd 2: Arthur Jones DE Vince Oghobaase, DE CJ Wilson, DE Corey Wootton, DE Lawrence Marsh DE Boo Robinsion DT
Mays has unbelievable physical tools, but IMO, is a dam good ball player. So, I don't believe "workout wonder applies. I have seen enough USC games to be impressed with May's game.
Taylor Mays would be ridiculous in this defense and if by some miracle he falls to us then great. If not, I think this is the year we need to either stand pat or trade down. Our starters at almost every position are good for several years, now we just need depth...particularly on the offensive line and WR. Our depth at LB and DB are good, as well as on the DL.
