I really feel bad for Chad. He is one of the true good guys in football. He always put the team first, never complained publicly, classy in the way he lost the job midseason to KC, then how he was cut for Brett Favre. I can't say I feel bad for the Dolphins, but I never would root for another player to get hurt, or for a team to fail b/c a key player got hurt. Kind of like last year, I hate the Pats and Brady, but I don't want to beat a team b/c they lost players to injury, I want to beat them b/c we outplayed them. I just hope this isn't the end to Pennington's career. He deserves better than that.
Screw Chad.... The guy made millions of dollars playing a kids game, has a beautiful wife with kids, and has a nice cushy future as an NFL analyst....
those odd number years are awful to chad. It sucks chad was a true leader and he will definitly be back next year as a back up. id take him in a heart beat over clemens. good luck i will never forget all the good memories you gave us in 2002 and in 2004.
Hatorade must be on sale at Sams Club. I like Chad. He's a good guy, its a shame he can't stay healthy. He'll be comeback player of the year (again) next year....
Poor Chad, stand up guy who's worked hard to overcome the injuries only for it to get the best of him.
except football isn't a kids game, and professional football never has been a kids game. it is a deviation of Rugby, which certainly isn't a kids game, and gained popularity as a collegiate sport, again, played by young men, not children. you don't have to abandon logic just because you are clearly jealous. a game doesn't mean meant for kids.
Pennington Out for Year Maybe the 'phins will go winless this season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4512011
Is this the "make an excuse for Chad" thread? OK, so he's a good guy. We can all agree on that, but he gets hurt all the time, he ain't THAT great, and he is in Professional football. C'mon!?! Sorry to hear that he's hurt, but I am just not surprised, and glad he is there, and not here.
I knew this would happen. This season for Sporano is exactly like Mangini's second year. Rookie head coach, comes in after a terrible season, and gets the team to the playoffs and everyone's all excited. Next season, Pennington gets hurt, things fall apart, and the team is terrible. I really feel bad for Chad, it's crazy how it's an every-other year thing with him. I bet next year, he signs with some team as a backup with a young QB (Bucs?), who turns into a bust, then in two years he's clock-managing a team to a championship game, a la Kerry Collins or Kurt Warner.
what happened, you've been so desperate to finally start a thread, saw your chance, and just like that it gets merged because in your giddy anticipation to fulfill your dreams you didn't realize we were already discussing it? let me guess, you started it in the Jets forum too?
except that Mangini took over a team that 2 years before was a playoff team, so the team wasn't devoid of playoff ability. Sporano took over a team that was 1-15 and hadn't won in years. hardly comparable situations.
I dunno if there's still a lot of bitterness between Pennington and the Jets, but I for one would love to have Chad as a backup for Sanchez next season if he'd come back. I don't think anyone will be lining up to offer him a starting job, and the man certainly has plenty to teach.
