8 time pro-bowler, but yet by far our biggest liability on the O-line...the guy can still run-block quite effectively, but is an absolute joke in pass-protection. I hope he's not completely over the hill just yet. Just my $.02. let the bashing begin.

You're right, Faneca was a liability in pass protection with the Steelers and that's why they let him go. He plays well some weeks, other weeks he just gets dominated. This is why we should be drafting at least 2 O-linemen in 2010.

No doubt. Faneca has never been a good pass blocking guard, but a very good run blocking one. He is still a huge upgrade over any of the previous few options the Jets had. I agree completely with Abyz that we need to invest in some young Guard/Tackle types for depth and potential replacements for our Aging O-linemen.

I am A OK with our defensive back situation.

Starting caliber offensive lineman, starting caliber defensive end, a wide receiver we can groom, a nose tackle to spell Jenkins, and then miscellaneous fat guys. Lots of fat guys.

I was saying (yelling actually) this during the game yesterday. While he's definitely an upgrade over the previous trash they had at OG, he has become the weak link on the line on passing plays, and one of the more overrated players on the team.

I definitely want to see linemen drafted on both sides of the ball next year.

Nobody can bash this because it's absolutely true. I've been watching the shortcut of the game, and he get's beat on a regular basis.

The NFL shortcut is a godsend. A full football game in 30 minutes.

I personally think a young NT or DE should be our first pick, but if there's talent somewhere else at our pick, ill take it. I mean you cant get much with the 32nd pick anyways

I'm hoping that Slauson can turn the corner and lock up a position on the line. Signs so far are mixed

Has Slauson seen the field during an offensive play? Not sure how there could be signs pointing either way.

  16. Turner is actually a really good Back-up developmental interior lineman as well. Very quick off the snap and can play center and both guard positions.

The OL depth has actually come a long way from the Bradway days. W/ that said..I am concerned w/ the depth at OT. FO has stated they are high on Hunter, and he indeed has all the tools..but he's wildly inconsistent anytime he gets playing time. Knock on wood that brick never goes down at LT. Thatd be scary.

Alan Faneca is only 32, so he has plenty left in him. Kevin Mawae is 38 and still strong.

He really hasn't been that bad at all, Mark has only been sacked 5 times this year.

For 3 games that's not bad, especially with a rookie in there.

Far better than the fate suffered by David Carr I agree however, our OL as a whole isn't exactly who we think they are and without a strong running game, our luck will eventually run out with SuperRook getting smashed. Faneca is making too much cash to bench but perhaps we can light a fire under him by spelling him a few plays now and then. Not everyone can be Kevin Mawae.

Damien Woody has been worse imo.He has been pass blocking well but has stunk it up on running plays,he's been as bad as Anthony Clemment.

Faneca pulls on a lot of our running plays, which is quite a hard thing to do,you are not always going to pull off a good pull block. But he has made some good blocks in our run game.
