I think this was his best game of his career. Had 3 tackles, pressured Collins on one of the picks. He's pretty solid against the run as an end holding his ground. He's slowly improving.

I kid you not,I saw him use a move other than a bull rush to get off of a block.

He had a TD and game tying saving tackle...huge props to him for not giving up and trying to chase the fastest player in the league down...and eventually getting to him (with some help)

I wonder if he found a new spot by playing with his hand on the ground. We could see some formations with Thomas, Scott, Harris, Pace, and Gholston on the field at the same time.

He still cannot get of blocks, and if you watch him when he is being blocked, he hardly fights it at all.

The guy just isn't intense. I really don't think he likes football that much, I think he just does it because it's what he does.

If he was fighting to get to the ball every play and just wasn't good enough to do it I would be happier than I am just watching him play passively as if he only wants to meet his expectations and nothing more.

I would rather see him gain a little weight and just spell out the de's occasionally when pace returns

Yeah I was really impressed with him. I hope he still gets a lot of time once Pace gets back. He needs play time to improve.

I agree, I saw him several times, especially when he saved that chris johnson run from being a potential td. He almost got a sack at least once, and I think he is gaining confidence from the people around him.

Agreed. At least he looked like an NFL caliber player today. A few nice pass rushes and a very good hustle play on the tackle of Johnson. He still looks far from being the dominant player we thought we were drafting. At this point, I believe the best case scenario is that he develops into a solid starter whether it's DE or LB.....I'm thinking Bryan Thomas-like solid.

even i have to say that gholston made two quality pressures, including one that helped force the Harris pick. Nice job today, VG!

(Also, did anyone see him accidentally elbow Pouha in the face on the sideline after Leonhard's big punt return? lol. Check it out.)

I thought he had a good game, he chased Johnson down and also applied pressure.

For me he proved he is a 4-3 DE

Save his spot? If you haven't noticed on defense that Rex uses every player he has, then your not watching. It's not like Pace is going to come back and your never going to see Gholston again. Other then Jenkins, Ellis, Scott, Harris, the front 7 is a mix and match on every play.

When CJ broke lose, Gholston caught up to him and stopped him. Would of been 24-24

I posted just about the same thing at the same time you were posting--not surprised though, as I've always enjoyed your posts.

If Gholston can continue to occupy blockers, playing on the same side as Pace at the same time could make Pace's pass rush a whole lot scarier.

Gholston held his lanes well, forced Johnson inside on many runs. Ryan wants a D Line that holds its position and lanes . VG had a good game , jets are 3-0 lets just enjoy!!!!

I guess I worded it kind of poorly, I meant that the play saved CJ from getting a TD that would have tied the game.

Thanks, I enjoy your posts as well. It's great seeing positives from Gholston. I think Rex had to break him down to square one and slowly build him back up.
