What is all the business about people not being allowed to critique negative aspects of our team without having people jump all over them. I understand we are 2-0 and coming off a victory against the Pats but there are still things to question. Let me say that again, I am ecstatic that weare 2-0. I was expecting good things to happen this year and it looks like my expectations are going to be exceeded. Does that mean we should keep our mouth shut on the issues that we find concerning? Of course there is a lot less to be concerned with when you are winning ball games but that does not mean we should be oblivious to certain facets of the game where there is room for improvement.

Fact. We have two great RB's in our backfield.
Fact. We have easily a top 5 OL in the league.
Fact. We expected this to be a HUGE strength in terms of how our offense operated this year.

I think we can all agree on those things. So what is the harm in wondering why our run game has yet to show up? It is not a statement that means whoever expresses it is a 'darksider' or that they are never going to be content unless we go 16-0 and blow teams out 42-0 every game.

I would like to hear some analysis by people who have maybe seen things that did not pick up on. Has TJ lost a step? Are we trying to use a two back system too much so that neither of them can get into the flow of the game? Is our OL over-rated? Maybe it is just too early in the season to land on one specific answer, very likely the real answer escapes me right now too.

I don't think there is ANY reason to panic at all or even worry that it won't pick up at some point. The question is why is it that our run game has not lived up to the expectations that were unanimously shared a month ago.

    1) Teams have stacked the box, as mentioned gazillion times already. You know there are no holes when Leon can't find them.

    2) As teams start to respect the Jets passing game with Sanchez, the running game will improve as mentioned gazillion times before.

I think it's pretty basic Xs & Os

You don't see hummers driving through walls.

I think our OL is more concerned about protecting Sanchez than opening holes (and it would make sense since he is a rookie) and they are still not 100%... but I'm guessing they'll play better the more we play.

Also we are using TJ for what should be Greene's role. Every time TJ runs through the middle he gets killed... let Greene tire the DL and then put TJ in those third down situations where he might be able to burst through. I think Fred Taylor of the Pats did an excellent shot at doing that.

I don't understand why we don't try to run it more on the outside with Leon...

PS there already is another thrad similar to this so maybe someone should merge...

as alluded too already its defenses stacking our offense bc they don't think they have a reason to fear an untested rookie. bash farve all you want (you as in the general not directed at anyone in particular), but it was his arm (read: the mystique of it at the very least) that enabled a good part of our run game last year to be what it was. granted this is all my opinion, but having said that, when you respect what a qb can do to you with his arm, you open up a few yards on the running game, which talented backs -like ours- can exploit into larger carries.

I've just finished watching the Texans game in detail, generally I'd say the problem is down to the blocking on the edges.

Woody has been pretty poor when it comes to run blocking,he looks really bad compared to last year.It looks like an effort thing,he's just not pumping his legs.He also looks a bit too heavy,I wouldn't be surprised if he's over his listed weight.

D'Brick hasn't looked too good either, there were a few plays where he might of broke a play if he made a better block.Dustin Keller is also doing poorly.

Moore and Mangold tend to get a push inside but the edge of the line doesn't get the defenders moving backwards or to the sides to create a gap.

i miss beamen, because he would explain exactly why the Jets aren't looking like the Ravens last year in terms of running.

the fact that no one understands what Favre did for the running game last year is beyond me. Not one defense is going to play honest this year with a rookie QB behind center. Every DC is going make Sanchez beat them through the air, rather than letting the running game open things up for him.

Why do you think all the rushing yards come in the second half?? Defenses play a more honest game once Sanchez opens up the run. Its going to be backwards until Sanchez earns the respect of all defenses. And if you think 2 weeks are going to do that, you're fucking retarded.

it is very simple, why the running game is not what it should be.the first thing that I noticed in the first two games.was that the defenses were stacking the line against the jets running game.knowing that the jets q.b. was inexperienced and that ryan is a run first pass later coach. as the season progresses.you will see more of a passing game then previously. sanchez is learning on the job.in no time he will be in tune with his recievers.

These two threads look remarkably alike. Even AFTER Big Derty realized there was another one just like it and pointed that out to everybody.

We have a decent not great back who is at the upper age end wean backs fall off the cliff and a huge weapon in Leon. We run a fast tempo WCO passing style attack. We line up a pass catching TE who doesn't block very well in the running game. We are trying to protect our QB while at the same time run a pass first O high tempo WCO.

The running game is fine based on the O we run and if Leon can hold up without wearing down will get better as he gets more carries.

We don't need to run for big YPC we just have to be committed to the run. Since our D is keeping us in games that shouldn't be a problem. The commitment to the run and the fact that our main weapon on O is our QB will make our running game very effective once teams realize they are trying to stop the wrong part of out O.

U just answered ur own question. Does it even matter if we run the ball as long as we win? I could really give a shit, like I said.

WTF man, I want a number one running game, and a number one passing game. I want Sancho to light place up along with Leon/TJ. I want our D to be the best, our special team to kickass and our CS to have their asses kissed by Belishit. I don't care if we are 2-0, I just want a running game. Can u do that much?
