Pennington definitely not the best quarterback in the league, but he could definitely start on most teams.
I agree with you totally on this. Delhomme was the QB for a team was the #2 seed last year. Russell hasn't performed heretofore, so I can't see fans expecting a lot out of him. Delhomme, by contrast, has much higher expectations and a number of question marks surrounding him considering how last season ended. The issue of his support tips this even further in Delhomme's "favor" for this question. He has one good running back in Stewart and one GREAT running back in Williams. He has a top 5 WR talent in Smith and a large physical WR in Mohammed. The offensive line comparison isn't even close. Finally, the Panthers' defense is MUCH better than the Raiders' as is their coaching staff. Delhomme is in a situation that Russell (for all his flaws) can only dream of being in. I think this goes hands down to Jake.
I agree with everything except the bold. The Raiders' defense has a chance to be elite...they have the best corner in the game, one of the best defensive linemen in the league, and incredibly fast and talented linebackers. Their defense is great. The Panthers' defense is incredibly banged up. Carolina is bringing in players off the street to play defensive tackle for them...they also have poor safety play.
I concede the play against the run, but I think the Panthers can get after the QB better than Oakland and have a better defensive mind leading them in Fox. Don't underrate this; guys like Belichick and Jim Johnson have turned average players into beyond serviceable stop-gaps. For under-performing QBs, I would like to suggest Tyler Thigpen and Tony Romo. I know I am assigning this based on their most recent games, but Thigpen is supposed to be better than he was and Romo did nothing to weaken the "Tony Romo chokes in big games" label that many pin to him.
You guys have it all wrong, although N2K was close. The worst QB is whoever the Jets happen to be playing. This week the worst performing QB in the league is Kerry Collins.
I think if you break it down Romo's drop off from week 1 to week 2 is incredible. If it continues you gotta give it to Romo.
I thought Delhomme came back and played fairly well last week after a shitty week 1. Russell, on the other hand, went from bad to awful. I do agree that Delhomme has more support though.
Delhomme has been terrible even tho russels completion % is ridicolous. he hasnt turned the ball over as much as Delhomme
