Mangini did help out Tannenbaum in terms of the draft the last few years, so credit is given when credit is due.

However, I find more love for him because of his poor head coaching, it led to his firing, which led to the Rex Ryan era. DUH!

i'm glad mangini's gone, but i don't get the hate for him. he had his moments, just not enough of them. he was terminated, unlike herm who ditched the team the second things looked like they'd turn bad. he got his when kc dropped him like lit stick of dynamite. i can't stand herm. mangini i'm just happy he's not the jets coach. i wouldn't mind seeing him have some success in cleveland. the browns fans have felt suffering, that's for sure. if mangini could give them a few 9-7 seasons, why not?

We wouldn't have Rex if it wasn't for Eric.

There is little doubt in my mind that Mangini made the bulk of the football personnel and draft decisions. If Mangini didn't agree with something, Tanny didn't go through with it. Tanny just doesn't have a strong football backround and Mangini was A) ridiculously hands-on and b) very knowledgable of the game.

Magini definately deserves some credit for those drafts.

Tanny's blitzes are friggin awesome. I'm glad we have him running the show. Pretty good moves going after Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard and Marques Douglas, too. He really knows how to go after "Tannenbaum guys."

    For now:

Mangini stands at 0-2 with Browns. Makes me smile.

I, like everyone else has already seem to, completely disagree that Tannys running the team and is a "football guy" Mangini had a huge influence on the FA and draft classes when he was here. If Tanny was running the show, why would he switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 when there was a switch in head coaches? Felt like switching it up, or making Drob a complete waste (more of one at least) of a top 5 pick? Mangini wanted Pace, Mangini wanted Revis and our whole revamped line, he wanted a NT and got Jenks, he would be a great asset as a front office guy.

Since Rex has come here we have signed Scott, Leonhard, and Douglas, still think Tanny runs the football side of things? Rex also repeatedly said that before they drafted Sanchise that he turned to Tanny and said "this is our guy, go get 'em." Sounds like Tanny was making the decisions there too...

Don't get me wrong, I think Tanny is a great asset for any FO. Tanny has always been great working out deals that work out best for the player and the team. I have no doubt he will do the same for Leon soon...

    Also, this.

(anyone who thinks Tanny is the driving force behind our football philosophy and personnel decisions is a moron. Mangini was clearly in charge and Ryan clearly is now)

Tanny's great strength is that he's an aggressive contract lawyer who doesn't take no for an answer. He's creative and persistent in his ways to procure talent that his coaches want. It's that simple.
