Now, i am just about as glad as the rest of you, that we let him go. I am loving every minute of the Rex Ryan era, and i already believe him to be a better coach then Mangini. However there were a few positives to come out of the Mangini era, and those mostly have to do with the team he put together.

Lets look at our drafts in the Mangini era

    2006
    1 D'Brickashaw Ferguson Virginia
    1 Nick Mangold Ohio State
    2 Kellen Clemens Oregon
    3 Anthony Schlegel Ohio State
    3 Eric Smith Michigan State
    4 Brad Smith Missouri
    4 Leon Washington Florida State
    5 Jason Pociask Wisconsin
    6 Drew Coleman Texas Christian
    7 Titus Adams Nebraska

    2007
    1 Darrelle Revis Pittsburgh
    2 David Harris Michigan
    6 Jacob Bender Nicholls State
    7 Chansi Stuckey Clemson

    2008
    1 Vernon Gholston Ohio State
    1 Dustin Keller Purdue
4 Dwight Lowery San Jose State
    5 Erik Ainge Tennessee
    6 Marcus Henry Kansas
    7 Nate Garner Arkansas

There are some very solid football players in that bunch, that will hopefully contribute to the success of the Jets for many years to come in the Ryan error. In fact with exception of Schelegel and possibly Gholston all off our picks, discounting the 6th and 7th round which tend to be a crap shoot anyway, have matured into successful NFL players and at least 3 have already reached the pro bowl.

I'm not saying i liked him as a coach, but where would our team be without, Revis, Leon, Harris, Mangold...etc, nevermind his bringing in Jenkins, Faneca and others.

So i would like to say once and for all, thank you Erick Mangini for your tenure as head coach of the NYJ, i couldn't be happier you are gone, and that we are on to bigger and better things as a football team....

Also, Thanks for letting us trade up for that Sanchez guy, he's been looking pretty decent too.

Lots of errors across the eras, I suppose.

So what you're saying is we're in the beginning of a new error?

That's basically how I feel about it. Mangini may have turtled when it counted in his coaching duties, but he helped assemble one hell of a roster.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again:

Darrelle Revis would not be a New York Jet if it weren't for Eric Mangini.

Yeah he drafted us some good players...I don't miss him at all though. Ryan makes those good players great.

    Mangini is doomed in Cleveland.

To be honest, once Mangini is relieved of his HC duties (which might be the end of this year) I wouldn't mind giving him a FO job.

Gholston as the #6 pick is starting to give me some pain, but it is being offset by the play of the rest of our team.

You expect anybody in the draft taken in the top 10 to be an immediate up grade to your team.

Gholston looks like he jobbed us. Too, bad, too.

How can there be no love for Mangini? The guy basically gave us the next great QB in this league. For that reason alone there should be some love for him.

If you don't think Mangini and Rex have had a major say when it comes to FA and the draft then I don't know what to tell you.

No doubt about it, but that doesn't mean he did our draft the last 3 years. Tanny runs the draft, and runs the team, if thats not clear then I dont know what to say. Does he talk to our coach during the draft? Do they do the draft together? Of course, but it still comes down to Tanny.

Theres a reason Mangini was fired less than 24 hours after the Dolphins game last season. Tanny runs this team, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Thanks for failing in Seattle and vs. Miami Eric. I was angry about it before, but it turns out it was for the best.
