Do we have roster exemptions? If so, cuts are coming upon Pace/Ellis returns.

I am pretty sure we're not at 51 active players right now, so two guys will be jobless in a few weeks.

I imagine one of these guys will be a QB because carrying 4 of them is asinine. Bye bye O'Connell most likely.

Where else could we stand to drop a guy? I am thinking it will be CB Marquice Cole.

When Ellis and Pace return, and assuming our front 7 are who we think they are, we'll be scary up front when they're back. What a pleasant surprise Westerman has been. You gotta love those finds!

My guess would be Drew Coleman and Jason Trusnik. I suppose Izzo is still a possibility, but I doubt it. I'd be thrilled if we got rid of one of the QBs, though.

Izzo was tapped to relieve Scott when he had to sit out for a play. I doubt he's going anywhere.

I highly doubt if we release a QB. We traded for Connell and if we only planned to keep 3 QBs on the roster, we would have never traded for him.

I don't understand the mentality behind thinking the team would trade for a player halfway through preseason and then release him in week 2.

    Pats playbook:smile:

what would be funny is if we released him the pats would sign him again to see if he found out anything about our playbook. It's like a cycle

Then they cut him. The Lions pick him up and demand our sixth but return both our seventh and theirs.

O'Connell wasn't the QB I was thinking of. I'd be thrilled if we got rid of a QB after week 4 because it would likely mean an injury trade for Clemens.

The Jets have 14 linebackers including Pace so it's fairly likely one of those guys goes. They also have 14 defensive backs so the odds are somebody there goes also.

If they were going to cut a QB it would probably be Kellen Clemens but I think they will keep 4 for now. Clemens has had 4 years to stand out now and he just hasn't. At some point that has to turn into a huge mark against him and I think we're getting there.

Yeah it's gonna be Trusnik and Cole/Coleman. I bet we keep 4 QB's till at least the trading deadline to see if any injuries force some stupid GM to give up a pick for Clemens

Nah, it seems like Westhoff made it pretty clear that Izzo is staying around, I'd guess Coleman/Cole and maybe Trusnik (or hopefully trade Clemen/O'Connell for a 2010 low pick.

Yeah, like I said, I doubt Izzo is a possibility. I was just having trouble finding another LB besides Trusnik who would even be possible.

Like I've been saying, though, I view these opening weeks as a tryout for the secondary. One of them likely goes this week, but it wouldn't surprise me to see another one cut, plus Trusnik, and an offensive player moved up from the PS.

it would be nice to rid ourselves of a QB. i have a hard time believing tanny liked o connell so much to use a roster spot on a 4th QB. if no one wants to bite on clemens maybe he gets released.

Yeah, I heard that. I doubt he's a Week 1 cut either way, but it makes Week 4 a bit more interesting.
