What for? So we can watch him stand on the sideline when we need him most. This was one move Mangini got right...

The only one on the list I like is Chad and he's on Miami so I'm glad about that, too. Of course they started 0-2 last year and Chad looked awful in Week 2 on the road vs an NFC team, so who knows? Never thought they'd win the division after that Arizona game.

    What about Becht and Ellis?

What are the chances of a 28-Year Old, 3x Pro Bowler who's about to be Franchised wanting a new contract? Especially one who has some duribility issues. He did what he HAD to do. If he was still here, Bryan Thomas wouldn't be.

Mack and I were talking yesterday about the "almost" Jets or "rumored" Jets yesterday. Braylon Edwards, Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall...every single one of them had an absolutely terrible game yesterday. Just adds to the amusement.

    +Big Kat and Bigfoot=4

We tried that back in the Parcells days and it was a disaster. He is at his best as a 4-3 DE. Kind of like another player I know...

Ironcially, Favre's passer rating yesterday was > 10 points higher than Sanchez's.

But I'll agree, Sanchez was more impressive, if only because I wasn't expecting to be impressed that much, I expected a little more struggles in his first real game (not Stafford level struggles, but more than what he ended up having). But on the other hand Browns supposedly have a much better pass defense (they ranked 3rd last year, while Texans ranked 21st) link

Those are this year's stats, or yesterday's stats. In other words, the Vikings passed for shit yesterday and the Jets had a good day. The Browns and Texans were identical against the pass last season, averaging about 7.5 yards against per attempt. Did you not notice that there were only 28 teams on that list?

Yeah I know, but what else do hyou have to go on in week1

Good point on sort (ranking) order, I'd just looked at the "default" one I got from google. More interestingly, if you sort on rating, Texans are (were) actually better than Browns.

I confess I haven't watched either team very much, that is why I'm forced to rely on stats.

In your post, you tried to suggest that those were the stats for last year. So, your "what do you have to go on in week 1" excuse doesn't really fly.

There's absolutely nothing to be gleaned from one week of stats in that regard. You have no idea how to reference it, whether the Browns defense was good or Favre was just bad. Given that I'd suggest that Favre did exactly what the team needed him to, which is remain handcuffed while Peterson takes the game over. They'll likely need him to air it out a bit more later to keep defenses honest, but they'll keep him fresh. It's not impressive by any stretch of the imagination. Right now, teams are operating based on his image and his history, not his current capabilities.

If you were stuck watching that 1st half of football like I was yesterday I wasn't basing it on stats. Favre looked slow and completely useless at times in the 1st half. He started to look alot better when A Pete took the game over and put Cleveland away. The Vikings are a very good team but once Burt decides it's all about him teh Vikings will suffer. As long as he sticks to the plan and lets A Pete do his thing the Vikes will be ok but once he becomes "the riverboat gambler" the Vikes will fail.

Dude, you live in Vegas. How are you ever stuck watching a game? Seriously, do I have to drive my ass out there one weekend to make sure you're at the sports book?

And he wasn't really basing his comment on stats in any meaningful way. He was saying that Cleveland's passing defense must be better than Houston's because Brett Favre had a worse game against the Browns than Sanchez had against the Texans.

I was a little worried about Coles in Cincy. I like him, but he was dropping the ball too much last year, and I'm worried the concussions may start to take a toll on him. Chris Henry and Andre Caldwell may be better, as well as Chad Ochocinco.
