I know it's only one game....but after watching the defense...it's plain to see that our success will be determined by our defense. Sanchez played fantastic out of the gate...nothing taken away from his performance or the offense as a whole. But if Sanchez doesn't throw that pick....the defense puts up a GOOSE-EGG, on the road, against a team that was the 4th best passing offense in the league last year. Andre Johnson? that fucker's face will be on the side of milk cartons all over Houston tomorrow morning. And to boot.....this was done without Shawn Ellis or Calvin Pace in the lineup. I can't imagine how lethal this defense will be when we get those guys back. Next week against the Pats.....that will be the litmus test. I hope Bart Scott's foot print is permanently "emblazoned" on Tom Brady's jersey next week. GO JETS!
Agreed on everything, Tom Brady on minus one day rest (makes up for Sanchez running up the field to celebrate) better be scared. I'm pumped to see what we are capable of with Shawn Ellis, Calvin Pace, and Shaun Ellis.
Even if we don't sack Brady a bunch of times I wanna see us at least knock his ass around a bit. I feel like he's been untouched every time we play them (except for that awesome 06 game that ended with him getting sacked in the mud to end it)
fuck...i hope somebody on our defense hits Brady so hard...that he ends up looking like my avatar after they scrape him off the field.
honestly this isnt homerism at all but i really don't think the pats are as much of a lock as everyone is making them out to be....they lost a lot of starters on defense, and some core players to boot, bradys coming off injury. i dunno...i think the pats are a good team for sure but the most vulnerable of all the pats teams of recent history and IMO not a lock for shit
Loved the defense too tonight. Is it my impression or we rotated the guys a lot to keep them fresh? Especially in the D-line... PS I just had a fantasy during this game... can you imagine Taylor Mays in Ryan's defense? We'd have the sickest blitzes in the history of football!
The offensive miscue, completely understandable for a rookie QB, does not in any way take away from the fact that our defense pitched a shutout. Our D is unscored upon. Eat that. When the Big Kat and Voyeur come back, we will be lights out! Special shoutout to Revis Christ holding Andre muthafukin Johnson to 35 yards and no TDs! Shutdown what!
Next yr we could draft Mays or Berry (trade up for sure) to go along with Rhodes and the rest of our secondary core..oh mann
We were hitting them from every angle they couldnt tell where to patch up the hole first... this is a good thing a defense that brings fear... I hope the Pats were watching close
actually our defense did put up a goose egg. that td was scored against our offense, not our defense. the game was great, quite a few jets fans there, my group was trying to be as loud as possible. much to the disliking of the houston fans too.
No doubt about it, I keep telling everyone at work we are going to be a very good team this year. They say Sanchez isnt ready yet, blah, blah, blah. I said fuck Sanchez, THIS DEFENSE is going to be NASTY! I cant wait until next week!! I LOVE REX AND OUR NASTY SWAGGER!
KEY STATS Tackles NYJ 48 HOU 79 D Harris 11 Time of Possession NYJ 38:46 HOU 21:14 Punt Returns NYJ 3 HOU 0 They never had the ball...nor could they put together a drive.
I totally agree with you on this. Their defense is nothing to write home about as the only studs there are Mayo, Thomas and Wilfork. Their 4 leaders either retired or got traded. Plus, there's no guarantees about Bradys condition. Who knows what might happen if Brady got hit again on that knee. I just hate it that every expert is picking the Pats to be the AFC representative in this year's Superbowl just because Brady is back. They are a good team, but hell I would pick a handful of teams to be in the Superbowl before them. To sum this all up, ats_suck: :gpc:
So, people really want us to trade up again? Come on, we've done that enough...besides, I'm sure we could get a good potential starting safety with a 2nd or 3rd rounder like most teams do. Guys like Kam Chancellor from Virginia Tech will be out there.
I'm just saying if the Jets really LOVE Eric Berry like they did with Mark Sanchez, they'll trade up big for him. Granted with the Sanchez trade we hardly gave up anything of value, but just saying
