I think that's the whole idea. Rex Ryan said it himself, and while watching the game you could see that Gholston was allowing others to get their pressures and sacks. If Gholston doesn't have a sack all year yet he allows Scott and Harris to have shitloads, then I'm 100% fine with that, and that's what it looks like is happening right now.
I agree,he had some pressures today. Needs to improve though. Pretty sad that Westerman had his 1st NFL sack in game 1 and Ghost is still, well a GHOST!
Can you tell me how many times you have seen a nfl lineman or linebacker shed two blocks? Be realistic and not live in madden fantasyland. He played good.
i really think that once we get ellis back we're already a shitload better....but when pace comes back too and VG can spell pace and thomas with westerman floating around this team is going to be frightening on defense...i mean really frightening
I'd actually love to know how many times he was doubled because the few plays that stand out in my mind, both good and bad, I saw no double.
Oh look a Gholston bashing thread. What's new here at TGG? He can get pressure all game long but people will expect him to be the new Lawrence Taylor in order for people to finally accept him. Might as well sticky this thread since it will generate about 20+ pages throughout the year.
Gholston got three solo tackles. Really, I don't remember seeing him in the game, but I figured he must have been doing well, since the Jets were able to hit and pressure the QB so much. I figured he must have played a part in that. Good job, Vernon!
Westerman also came unblocked on that sack. If it where gholston the vg haters would be saying "big deal noone touched him". Wait that already happend week 3 pre season.
Who was that other one with something like 11 tackles 6 unnassisted? Yea baby nothing to complain about after that game.
