Well, the one vote for Houston winning and covering is me. Which I find strange because I'm never the pessimistic one. I'm usually realistic bordering on optimistic. And while I could totally see us winning this one, it's a tough hill to climb.
i think we will lose a close one. Opening with a rookie QB on the road is one hell of a task. Add to that no Ellis or Pace. I think the Texans are going to run at Vern constantly until he shows them something. Hopefully he does. I think the game will be close throughout but eventually the Texans win by at least 6. Sanchez will do good for his first game. Our pass defense sucked ass during the pre season and I dont see much changing this week. Lito will continue to get pissed on, and Daniels will have a big day for the Texans. Nothing I've seen so far makes me feel any better about our pass D compared to last year. Sure we brought in more talent but I'm just not that confident yet. I guess it all goes back to the pass rush. Say what you will about Shaub but if he gets alot of time we're fucked.
If the "O" line steps up to the plate and does its job (Jones=75-90 yds; Green=40; Leon 'breaks' one/two) and Mark goes (nothing crazy, 14-26, 150, 1 TD/1 Int)....we could walk out with a 20-17 win. Keep Mario Williams (who they picked over Reggie-Bush) off Sanchez, the Jets can do it. Tough task (on the road) but possible.
The Jets physically dominate on both sides of the ball Schaub doesn't finish the game...and Grosman will wish he didn't have to replace him. 6 sacks, 3 turnovers and at least 7 defensive points. Jets run for over 200 yards, and... NO ONE CAN COVER THE CLOWN!!! Blowout- JETS win 37-6 FUCK Houston! FUCK New England! FUCK Tennessee! FUCK New Orleans! And FUCK THE DOLPHINS!!! 5-0 Start Baby!!! PS: Dear Rex, Thanks for the Kool-Aid, it was delicious, now lets go KICK SOME ASS
HEY! You wanna join my "Realist Club" But seriously, posts like this get me pumped! NICE!
I definitely don't feel good about this game. If Houston played in any other division, I'd call them a surefire Wild Card team. I'll say that much. I would assume that we limit the potential for mistakes with a heavy dose of the run game, but either way, Sanchez very well may be on the run a lot tomorrow, which doesn't bode well for a rookie QB with a still-limited playbook. I don't want to see him revert back to looking down a single receiver because he's concerned about not having enough time to check down. On defense, I hope we have a plan in place to muster a pass rush despite losing Ellis and Pace for the game. As has been stated, Houston has 4 solid targets in the passing game. Johnson is a beast, Walter matched him in the top 10 for receiving TDs, Daniels was 3rd among TEs in receiving yards and looks to develop into more of a reliable red zone threat, and Slaton catches the ball well out of the backfield. Granted, Walter may be out, but we still can't afford to give Schaub any extra time in the pocket. If we end up having to commit more players to coverage, Slaton can gouge us on the ground. The key to this game is keeping Houston's offense off the field with the ground game. They're weaker at the tackle position, which led to a ton of tackles for Demeco Ryans and a rush defense that was near the bottom of the league. If we can limit their potential for big plays and get consistent points on longer drives, we can pull out the win.
I'm also generally an optimist when it comes to the Jets, and I also think that Houston will win tomorrow. Without Ellis and Pace the Jets' already thin depth is going to be tested to the max, not a good thing considering how much Houston plans to feature Steve Slaton. Add to that Mark Sanchez playing his first professional game, which has the potential for a lot of problems. Finally, Houston quietly has one of the best homefield advantages in all of football. If this game were being played at the Meadowlands I'd take the Jets, but on the road I don't know if they have enough to get it done. Prove me wrong boys, prove me wrong.
Schaub has to be hit early in the game. He already has a tender ankle. And I hope Sanchez can prove you wrong, by being this big game QB people like to say about him. If he is calling this a must game then this is a BIG game. We'll see.
If... no wait when... we win the first 4 games, do we even bother putting pace back in when he returns? I'm so pumped to see Gholston get his first regular season sack. I hope its negated like in the preseason for helmet to helmet contact on the wimpy shuaby. Pace being out is the best thing that could have happened for us. Throw the ghost into the fire.
I wanna believe! Awesome analysis I thought. This is going to be a rough one, especially with Ellis and Pace out. Trial by fire no doubt(Our away record vs their home record alone), but I think if we do pull it out and win then we know early we've got some magic in Ryan and what he's put together. If not, then no biggie, we just need a few more ingredients in Ryan's secret forumla which is expected. But oh how I want us to kick some Texan ass tomorrow! I want in the second quarter for Schaub to say something about the Ghost's moma, and something in him snaps, he goes nuts and sacks schaub like 5 times. Come on Schaub, talk about his momma, please! Go JETS!:drunk::drunk::metal:
Hopefully the Ghost is crazy-pissed off at his OSU Bucks taking it on the chin against USC last night (great, intense game) and carries it into today. Jets 20-17
