www.jetsdaily.com I can't believe I almost forgot about one of my favorite parts of the NFL season: picking the games! With just 15 minutes until the 1:00 games start, I'm in a bit of a hurry to post this, so let's get on with it. Washington +7 over the Giants Will the Redskins win this game? I don't know. What I do know is that the Redskins return Clinton Portis, one of the more underappreciated runningbacks in the game and they bring in a defense that should strike fear in opponents. It was good last year, now add the most dominant defensive player in the NFL in Albert Haynesworth as well as rookie pass rusher Brian Orakpo! Expect a close, low-scoring, typical NFC East matchup. Giants 17, Redskins 13 49ers +6.5 over Cardinals I'm not super high on the 49ers this year, but this is too high a spread for week one. Shaun Hill is not a bad quarterback, and the Cardinals could struggle with Frank Gore. Kurt Warner has struggled with his timing in training camp, and at 38 years old and after almost having retired last year, I have to question his motivation a little bit. Anquan Boldin might not play and definitely won't be 100%. San Francisco will keep this close and maybe even win. Cardinals 24, 49ers 21 Baltimore -13.5 over Kansas City The Chiefs are a mess right now. Matt Cassel will not play, but that won't make a difference. Baltimore is a great team at home, and Joe Flacco is poised to take the next step forward into becoming a very good NFL quarterback. Kansas City simply doesn't have enough up front on either line to hold up against the Ravens, and this should get ugly quickly. Ravens 31, Chiefs 6
Too bad I didn't see this thread until now. I'm looking forward to discussing NFL picks with everyone each week. I hit a nice little parlay today with Min, NO, and Bal. Like taking candy from a baby. I wanted to bet on the Packers/Bears game in the worst way, but ultimately I decided to stay far away. Just too many ways this one could go. I'd rather crack open a cold one and just be able to enjoy it, but if you put a gun to my head, I would probably have made a small play on the Bears to win it outright.
lol wtf mack. Almost no one saw the picks before the games started! I disagree. Baltimore was the luckiest cover of the week. They should not have covered, but KC kept calling timeouts, so Baltimore scored a TD to go up 14 with a minute left.
Monday Night Football Play: Bills +11.5 @ Patriots -11.5 Analysis: Even with the acquisition of Terrell Owens, the Bills' first team offense was an utter disaster this pre-season. Look for the their no-huddle offense to struggle to find their rhythm without Marshawn Lynch against a young, talented Patriots defense. Bellichick's exotic blitzing schemes will keep the newly anointed Trent Edwards off balance. Buffalo will struggle to find an answer to the Patriots' high octane passing attack led by Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker. The Bottom Line: The Patriots cruise in their week 1 home opener. The Pick: I'll buy the .5 (never, EVER allow yourself to get beat by a half a point!) and take the Patriots to cover at -11. 3 Units on the Patriots -11.
