Well at the moment, as told, it's hearsay. Kays says Klecko said it over the air. If it was anybody but Klecko I'd discount the idea that he might have said something like that over the air because that'd be a possible firing offense: reflecting poorly on the Jets in public. Klecko however was never afraid to speak his mind and occasionally shot from the lip while doing that so I guess it's possible.

I'd have to hear Klecko say it before I believed it though. If I heard him say it I'd know it was the truth.

I think it was a known fact that Mangini crapped on the alumni. It also was known that Klecko disliked Mangini bigtime. I think much of that stuff came out during Dan Klecko's draft year. However, I do not know where to find that.......

There is a saying "there for but the grace of God go I". If the story is true how would he feel if that was one of his own sons? The sad part is people like him just don't have common sense or use their heads sometimes. He should just be thankful he has health children. What an idiot, again if the story is true.

I tend to agree. "Long story short"? Think something is missing here.

Man, nobody knows how to really hate like Jets fans. We are one of a kind. :breakdance: That being said, if this story was/is true, I would have a lot lower opinion of Mangini. It doesn't sound like him to be honest though, and perhaps part of the problem was miscommunication if it is indeed true. I'm sure if this kind of visit was cleared through proper channels then it wouldn't have been very hard for Klecko to get it straightened out.

Klecko is a really cool guy. I got to meet the sack exchange one time with my kids. I got to the front of the line and realized my camera was broken. I told him i was gonna go get a throw away and be back. he saw me come back in 20 mins later, and called my family up to the front of the line.
mangini is a piece of shit. i hope he fails miserably. As a father,i cannot imagine looking at my kids face being broken hearted in that situation.

Oh – hello…welcome to the Manretard is a total inept douche bag club; I’ve been a solid member since week two of his second season…that was after hating the hire and giving him a fair shot to prove me wrong.

Let's not overreact here, we are all hearing this through 4 or 5 people's versions of the story. Maybe Eric had them removed, but maybe he didn't see who it was, maybe he didn't hear the reasons. If it's true then that is really sad, but let's not completely jump to conclusions and make assumptions.

I think there is a larger context -- the "disrespect" maybe went both ways. Clearly Klecko and Mangini already had a feud going, and my guess is that Klecko unnecessarily aggravated it by showing up with this kid without even bothering to tell Mangini he was gonna do it. My hunch. Remember, Klecko clearly had it out for Mangini even while he was still coach, in a VERY public way (from last year):

Yes, in case you had forgotten, Klecko was already on the radio calling for Mangini's head before the season was even over, before they'd even been eliminated from playoffs. Not cool. Not smart.

there may be 3 sides to this story and we may never hear the true one.....

i would bet that mangini wasn't given ALL the info up front.

at least i hope thats the case.

On one level I think Mangini believes that the way to achieve Belichek's success is to be just as big a dbag as BB is. Instead he should have found another Tom Brady.

But on another I think he is in any event a cypher of a person, so maybe he really can't act any other way.

As much as everyone loves Klecko for his accomplishments on the field, this isn't the first time his presence around the team hasn't been appreciated. I remember many years ago Tony Casillas saying something about him hanging around the lockerroom and how it wasn't really good for the team. I don't know the guy, he may be an arrogant dick that nobody likes. Or maybe Mangini believes in keeping the dead buried. Remove the sick kid from the story and its really not a big story.

    D,

I would tend to find merit in your take on this if we did not already know that Mangini is a proven cakehole. It's of a piece with many other stories about him.

Having said that, I don't really want to keep talking about him now that he's gone...

You wish you were such a "proven cakehole" that you could talk your way into two consecutive head coaching jobs (out of a possible 32 worldwide) based on such a razor thin resume.

But don't you think that's because of this whole Belichik tree nonsense? Because of that people actually see the proven cakehole stuff as a plus. Well, it isn't really.

I see this in business all the time. Somebody is in the right place at the right time, and does well, and they assume it's because of EVERY aspect of their personality and life. I am reasonably happy with my own lot in life, but I know enough to know what I have achieved is not because I blaze weed now and again and like to drink.

It probably doesn't have much to do with posting here, either. Heh.

From my avatar, you can see I've met Klecko. I found him to be engaging, honest and a nice guy. Nothing about him made me think he was a JO.

You are quoting Tony Casillas? Ouch!

I stick with the story that Eric the Great is an ass!

Does anyone think Belicheck is beyond using a dying kid to steel plays from a division opponent? Mangini knows a BB plant when he sees one. Just because you think people are out to get you doesn't make you paraniod especially if that someone is BB.
