My guess is that there will be discounted tickets for Jets fans with tickets to games in AFC East opponents' stadiums that JetBlue flies to, namely Miami and Buffalo. I'm not sure if they service that other shithole in the division. It would be cool if the stadium name were JetBlue Stadium though. It would finally not be us playing in "The Meadowlands" or "Giants Stadium."
Kerry "Mud Fucker" Rhodes doesn't know jack shit about anything. He couldn't have knowledge of a trade unless he heard it from Marshall himself, and even then he'd probably have a shit storm come down on him from team management. How the fuck does he know anything about JetBlue or why it would even matter? Does he work with the marketing team? God only knows wtf he's going on about.
Playing devil's advocate, it would be wild if this announcement actually IS a big announcement. I'm definitely on the doubter train though.
Haha that's pretty funny  It's probably some stupid shit like they'll be somewhere to sign autographs and the first 100 people will get to lick the kinky black hairs on the under side of his sack. PSL owners will get some sort of discount on airline tickets. Some stupid shit that the common man can't afford or be bothered with because life is sometimes...sometimes more important than football.
It IS the JetBlue announcement. Fucking lame! http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/sports/Kerry-Rhodes-Big-Announcement-Will-Be-a-Letdown-57696572.html Kerry Rhodes' Big Announcement Will Be a Letdown Brandon Marshall isn't coming to New York By JOSH ALPER Updated 8:46 AM EDT, Tue, Sep 8, 2009 Print Email Share Buzz up! TWITTER FACEBOOK Kerry Rhodes On Sunday afternoon, Jets safety Kerry Rhodes created a stampede of people to his Twitter account when he tweeted that there was a "big announcement coming soon." Since the Jets are a team desperately in need of a receiver at the same time when the talented Brandon Marshall is being mentioned in trade rumors, several Jet fan followers of Rhodes asked if that was the big announcement. He toyed with fans for a while, once going so far as to say that the trade may happen before saying that the big announcement had nothing to do with Marshall. That jives with a report in the Daily News that says the Jets are "forgetting Brandon Marshall," presumably to focus on their vampire musical. That doesn't mean it won't be some kind of player news. Maybe the signing of a different veteran wide receiver, like Marvin Harrison or Matt Jones, or some kind of trade that we didn't see coming. Or Leon Washington's new contract. Or something having to do with the football team, at least/ Rhodes didn't offer any other hints, before finally leaving things by saying that the announcement would be made at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and a final note to remind "everyone the news will b mad 2morrow and if you really are a JET fan you will appreciate the news!" There's a reason that Jet is in all capital letters, and it's because there's an actual jet involved in the announcement. Late on Monday night, the Jets sent out a press release that invited media members to JFK Airport at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to hear about a new partnership between the team and JetBlue. That's 15 minutes later than Rhodes said, but it seems unlikely that the Jets would try to steal their own thunder by jamming two big announcements back to back like that. The guess here is that JetBlue will have a JetGangGreen decked out in Jets colors, maybe with a mural of a player or two on the side, ready to be unveiled on Tuesday afternoon. If they really go the extra mile they'll have set the plane up to fly incredibly smoothly for the first two-thirds of the flight before encountering severe, horrifying turbulence and then crashing upon arrival at the destination. It would be an expensive and, likely, deadly tragedy, but it would do a pretty good job of simulating a Jets season. A Jets jet is pretty cool, but the whole event will certainly be a letdown to Jets fans who care more about the team on the field than their marketing partnerships off of it. That letdown is one that people should probably get used to more as teams and companies become more savvy about ways to use Twitter to build buzz for things before they announce them. It's a great communication tool that has offered a new side of athletes like Rhodes, but it will probably prove to be even more powerful as a marketing tool. Rhodes played good soldier for the team here, hopefully they thank him for it, but his followers are probably going to be a bit more skeptical about taking him at his word going forward.
Like I said, put it in perspective. It is something they think is important enough to bring in Johnson, Namath, Chrebet and Lyons.
If it's the JetBlue thing, my vision of kerry will be severely diminished. He'd be nothing more than a company tool at that point. Why would they have Kerry Rhodes do it? Sanchez is the current cash cow.
They are announcing Joe Willie day. All kids that show up to the stadium on that day with any Namath memorabilia get a free bottle of Captain Morgans and a pamphlette on why safe sex is safer but less enjoyable.
Wow, it's comepletely amazing to me that people are: 1) So pissed off at Rhodes for this, especially since every time this story is told, it gets warped a little more to sound like he actually said there was a Marshall trade in the works, which he clearly didn't. 2) Surprised that former Jets would be on hand for this, or that the team would be excited about a new marketing opportunity. Hello people. This is modern sports. Without all the marketing, the ticket prices would be even higher.
I am not getting mad at Kerry for it HOWEVER he did say in response to someone "you could be right hint hint" when they said "were getting brandon marshall"... i think that statement fueled the speculation tenfold.
I say we trade Rhodes and his twitter account for Brandon. If it is just the Jetblue thing, he is on my shit list from now on.
I bet that, from now on, fans will be getting their trade info from different sources than a player's Twitter account, huh?
