Yes, I'd much rather see teams using the cap money to keep their veterans rather than giving large bonuses to kids who haven't played a down yet. A nice compromise would be to slot the draft and make 3 or 4 years the max on rookie contracts ala the NBA. And get rid of those stupid franchise and transition tags that the players hate so much. it would be a better deal for more players in the long run.

Al Davis needs to worry about heading into a new retirement home never mind trying to win 2 super bowls before he supposedly retires. All of these unproven players with their nice 40 times DOESN'T mean anything. Your so high bent on thinking this is what Davis trying to do when the reality is Davis has no clue on how the the NFL works nowadays! What if Seymour walks at the end of the year? What if he breaks down? If he gets lost for the year? You'd lost a 1st round pick for nothing. You also have many other problems such as your QB, the entire locker room, etc. It goes on and on. You also NEVER eat crow on a move that u predicted wrong and NEVER thinks a move by the raiders is a bad one Do you really think the Raiders are Superbowl or even playoff contenders this year? They could surprise don't get me wrong but I wouldn't set my hopes up. (heck most of us on this board aren't for the Jets) I don't even know why I wasted my time writing this message as you'll probably just reply with "u dont konw wat u talking about, davis know what he doung, asmougha, semour makes great d jets wont beat us, blah blah blah. That is classic... the real question in this is whole mess is, what happens if Seymour say retires tomorrow? I know the Raiders would still lose in all of this but what would happen with Seymour's status? Could he say unretire in November and sign a FA contract with the Pats?
