Who do you think besides Brandon Marshall, the Jets may be looking at trading for? Do you think it's definitely a WR? Lets get off Brandon Marshalls ball sweat and think about what else the Jets may be thinking?

I would personally love Marshall but lets take a bigger picture look.

    What do you guys think?

EDIT - I used the word think way to much in this post.

If there is really a deal going down and it's not for Marshall, I imagine it could be for just about anyone. Marshall is really the only name I've heard but WR seems to be our first priority, which would maybe put Edwards in the mix. But I don't see any reason why the Browns would want to give him up and they certainly aren't going to want Clemens as part of the deal. There's no info to go off here so it's hard to even speculate. Hopefully we'll know what's up later today.

i dont know...i wouldnt rule out edwards....manginis a moron and is having QB issues...what if he is going to trade quinn or andersen. He would then take clemens as a backup and a pick for edwards. more likely clemens + another player...but the way mangini is going i wouldnt be shocked

If Marshall is the guy, I think O'Connell is the bait.

i tried to make this about other options...but it really seems like this is going to happen...it just makes sense

o'connell worked with mcdaniels in NE
rhodes, marshall's friend tweets something very bold

bottom line we dont need 4 QB's - ainge is going nowhere. either clemens and o'connell are...it just seems to make perfect sense...

its a matter of time. probably tommorow

If that is the case....we were 9-7, Bronco's were 8-8(?) or less, why would they not have claimed him off waivers before us?

IMO, Clemens would be more likely (given the above). Plus, they may have brought in O'Connell just to pick his brain. Just some food for thought..

i really don't buy into this picking the brain stuff..

we study the hell out of film and don't need him to identify anything...he can explain plays but we still cannot know the calls and each games individual prep unless he's there...people go nuts with this idea and it's really senseless

The Broncos did claim him before us, but the Lions also claimed him and they are first on the list. The better question is why they didn't just trade with the Lions for him. If the rumors are true that we traded a very low pick for him, you'd think the Broncos could have done the same.

Clemens for two sweaty used jockstraps
Clemens for six pair of socks with holes in them

Actually, Clemens is less likely cuz in that case, we'll have no QB on the roster with any NFL exp n all QBs would be totally unknown. If we were to ship out KC, we would have picked up a better backup than Kevin, probably Feely or Garcia. Or maybe we plan on letting KC go after the yr n let Ainge n Kevin fight it out for the backup next yr.

Several possible scenarios of course, one being we were really high on Kevin that we had to trade for him. I could live with 3 inexperienced QBs though if Marshall is there to catch a few.

If anyone is traded, hopefully it's for a wide receiver. Apart from that position, we have a good team.

With regard to Marshall, I thought this was going to happen, but today I think there is too much new bad blood between Denver and the Jets for this to occur.

With regard to Edwards, we have a very good relationship with Cleveland. I'm sure, though, that Mangini wants nothing to do with Clemens. He chose Rattliff in the Sanchez draft trade for a reason, and while Ratty hasn't done well in pre-season, I seriously doubt Mangini would now go for Clemens, especially when he's injured. Cleveland's gonna want a draft pick(s).

Guys, I just think there's only one GM that would be dumb enough to trade anything of value for Clemens - that's Spielman. He was the doofus back with the Dolphins that was handing out second round picks for other team's 3rd string QB's, like Feeley...

I just see Clemens market value to be so low that I can't imagine a scenario where a quality WR is coming our way with him the mix. I honestly felt like Ainge was being showcased against the Eagles. At this point I think he holds more value than KC, not saying he's a stud or anything. He could eventually become our M Shaub. The guy everybody says could start and be productive and then we flip him for a high draft pick...

Ainge is not being 'showcased'. i doubt he ever starts an NFL game. the hype on him is getting borderline ridiculous.

What did we have to trade for O'Connell? Might have cost us a 6th next year.
If the Broncos wanted him, you'd think the Lions would be willing to deal direct.

It's possible we are building for future with expectations that Clemens is gone next year.
It makes sense to try to trade Clemens now.
If the trade is for Marshall though, Denver would still want a 1st or 2nd packaged in so they can save face over there. I don't think i'd give that much up for Marshall. Careful what you wish for with these baby diva WR's..

I was going to write this:

Too bad the Jets cut Hodges. Between Clemens , E Smith and Hodges I am sure they can work out a deal for Marshall.

but the following is way way funnier:

It's likely got to be Marshall or Edwards. Anything else would be a total shock.

what if the jets were trying to get edwards by trading vernon gholston and picks/qb... i was reading somewhere how he was strictly manginis pick and the front office didn't like him... the article said vg was a reminder of the mangini era

VG is completely untradeable. Regardless of what somebody would be willing to trade, we would be on the hook for about 15 million dollars if he were to be traded right now, and we do not have the cap space to afford to give him 15 million right now....

Well they tired but Detroit put in a claim ahead of everyone. We did not trade a pick just to learn more about the NE playbook.

I think the Jets traded a pick because they like O'Connell a lot and they don't expect Clemens back next season. He's the longterm solution at 2nd string.
