I wouldn't do it for Harris... he is young and we don't have any capable backups at ILB... Pace is the only starter I'm willing to sacrifice. PS: In my opinion after Fitzgerald, A. Johnson, C. Johnson and Moss Marshall is the 5th best WR in the league at 25 years of age. Pace is 29 and is nowhere near the top 5 OLB in the league. This to explain why I would justify Pace + a pick + O'Connell...
Kevin O'Connell-QB- Jets Sep. 7 - 9:25 am et The Jets did not acquire QB Kevin O'Connell with the intention of trading him away, according to SI.com's Peter King. The Jets reportedly had O'Connell rated as one of the top 75 players on their draft board last season and plan to keep four quarterbacks on their roster. A trade to Denver involving Brandon Marshall remains unlikely. Source: SI.com If a trade really goes through Peter King will be out of work soon
King always talks out of his ass. His post has further bolstered my belief there's a fire blazing in that smoke right now...
I didn't think it was possible either, but I looked up some shit last night and it appears you can. In fact Pacman was the first player ever traded while on suspension. Now I don't know if the players union would have any say in it. Either way, Pace ain't going anywhere.
Hmmm, it seems you're right. I agree with Don, though, I doubt Denver would touch that contract. Plus, his accelerated cap hit would kill us and I doubt we'd be able to afford to sign Marshall top a contract in that event. Trading Pace in a non-reality.
I was actually talking about his trade scenario involving Pace. But it turns out that you can actually trade a suspended player, i.e. Pacman Jones.
Just to clarify, CNN didn't report anything. Clowney put up a Tweet that CNN was reporting that Marshall was traded to us. He was goofing around.
An NFL source insisted Sunday that the Broncos still have no plans to trade disgruntled WR Brandon Marshall. The Broncos don't want to set a precedent that unhappy players can force their hand. They also know that Marshall's trade value is deflated due to character concerns and a desire for a mega-contract. Jets fans shouldn't get their hopes up. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_13284081?source=rss So lets start an OFFICIAL Duane Bowe thread!
As for trading a starter for Marshall, that is the dumbest thing I've seen posted here yet. If you can make it happen by trading one of the backup QBs, and some combination of not-first-round-picks, then go for it. Otherwise, you can draft a WR next year for far less cost. What you're trying to do with Marshall is win this year. If you're giving up current talent to get him, you're not taking that "one more step" to try to compete.
The option of trading O'Connell and possible draft picks to Denver for Brandon Marshall is something to consider. McDaniels realized that he screwed up with Cutler by asking for Cassel. Since now he sees that his QB corps sucks. O'Connell is his only option to save face and all this talk about Marshall not tradeable and the Jets saying O'Connell is not tradeable leaves me to think a trade could be done. The fact that the Lions picked O'Connell off waivers before Denver could leaves me to believe that this was set up by the Jets. Seeing O'Connell waived by the Patriots, I'm sure the Jets got on the phone with the Lions and requested they up the QB for a draft pick. Thus blocking Denver from picking him up. What need do the Jets have if not for picking O'Connell's brain about the plays NE uses? A draft pick is not worth it. The fact that it all happened within hours (waiver claim and then trade) only means the Jets are positioning themselves to offer a trade to Denver for Marshall that will include O'Connell and possibly Stuckey or Clowney. I would love to have Marshall here with Cotchery on the opposite side with Dirty Sanchez throwing to them both. Just My Opinion...Food for thought.
