You hit the nail on the head. Some fans would rather have the excitement of an "elite" WR without thinking about what really wins - defense and line play. I would be shocked if Harris, Pace, or any other key defensive starter went to Denver for Marshall.
Let me be the first to say I'll be infinitely more excited if the news is Leon's new deal and not a Marshall trade...but both could work too
Six months from now, you will no longer believe that Bart Scott is better at football than Calvin Pace.
QB and a pick is the ONLY ABSOLUTE POSITIVE way this gets done and benefits US for THIS year. Trading Harris, Pace, or any first tier Defensive play would only have the JETS taking a huge Defensive hit and gaining a POSSIBLE(baring attitude) upgrade. We can't get worse on 1 side of the ball just to MAYBE get better on the other. And isn't this suposed to be Harris' year?
I just hope to god that leon will be used more if we pay him more. I think a 50/50 split would be perfect. It's just that every time you see them try to run TJ on the outside he never quite gets around the corner. Leon deserves a raise more than anyone else on the team. While i don't doubt that this raise will come, I'm skeptical as to whether that is the news that rhodes is referring to. I could be wrong, but something else is brewing, whether that involves marshall or not...
Update from Nick Mangold on twitter: nickmangold@kerryrhodes your killing me and your loyal followers. Shoot me a text so I can know too!
From Peter King on twitter: There will be no trade now. Marshall isn't back to be dealt, tho a gd offer would get him. Forget a Marshall-O'Connell/plus-something deal.
If they want Harris or Pace, they r not getting em. If we end up doing the deal, it better not have any picks involved. Starter for starter. Sure enuff Marsh is an excellent WR, we wudnt be handing them a filler either. Harris is also young n talented, n has a pro bowler potential. I wudnt want a starting player plus trade but if it will be the case, it better be a second day pick.
The Jets are staying away from Marshall, after Denver started accusing the Jets of tampering. If there was a deal in the works between the two teams, I think it's now dead, courtesy of Denver's greed and stupidity. But then Denver's the team that lost Cutler too. Losers!
I'm in the UK so I cant check but apparently CNN News are reporting that it is now a done deal and so is Stuckey on Twitter can anyone confirm this? nothing on NYJ.com or on the post
Clowney is asked about the rumor of CNN news reporting it as a done deal. His answer was he has no idea, he just shows up to play.
Apparently you haven't seen Danny Woodhead's combine number. We had 99 speed on the 53 man roster for 1 day.
