Another theory - Ainge could've asked to be traded. Remember the unexplained absence for the OTAs? He may be pissed that he never had a chance to compete for a starting position since he's been here and to be honest, I think he has more potential than Clemens. Either way, Clemens is gone after the season so this could just an early replacement. If we spent a draft pick to get Patriot secrets I will be highly pissed.
Wasn't someone from his family going through cancer treatment at that time? I could have sworn I heard NBA announcers talking about that with Danny Ainge during the playoffs.

Tannenbaum announced they will keep 4 QBs. Don't know if that was posted. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum issued a statement announcing that the club will keep four quarterbacks, following Sunday's addition of Kevin O'Connell. It doesn't mean Kellen Clemens will definitely keep the No. 2 QB job, as the Newark Star-Ledger points out that Erik Ainge "is gaining ground" after an aggressive, accurate preseason. O'Connell will be fourth string.
If the jets do keep all 4, then picking up O'Connell tells you all you need to know about the confidence or lack there of the Jets braintrust have in Clemens and Ainge.
Or maybe Clemens is really injured , like was mentioned in one of the other threads. Remember O'Connell was a backup in NE , so he's run scout for AFC East Teams . It just may be our #2/3 fluctuates based on opponent.
Clemens has to be hurt. I wouldn't be surpised if he wants up in the IR and we never see him in a Jets jersey again.
If Sanchez is gonna be your QB for the next 10 years, why pick up a guy that will take a few year to develop, when you could grab a veteran for this year?

Jets Lions Trade The jets just traded the lions for QB Kevin O'Connell why would they do that unless they thought Ainge was a legit #QB? Any thoughts that Clemens may be going to Denver?
I don't think Clemens is going to Denver. Denver has wildly accused the Jets of tampering, and I think there's too much bad blood with the teams now to think that Marshall will be going to the Jets. Also, I think Denver would rather send Marshall to an NFC team, like they did Cutler. The Jets wanted Cutler, and they weren't even a consideration by Denver. I think Clemens is either going to the IR or he's going to be waived. The Jets will not part with Ainge, and the FO is a fan of O'Connell. The Jets say they're going with 4 qb's, but they've said many things that haven't been exactly true
