I agree. The longer this thing strings out, the least likely it is to be a trade for Marshall. Usually if a player finds about about a trade, Schefter knows in about .2 seconds.
As Far as I am concerned, this is easilly the worst day for the Jets since Ryan arrived. 4 TE's? 11 Db's? 4 QB's? It's like watching a ten year old play Madden.
I'm 50/50 with getting Marshall. I love the guy's talent, hate his actions off the field. IMO, he might be worth the risk if he really would want to play in NY. I think he'd hold the common sense that if a team makes a deal for him, that they have faith in him and he would need to hold up his end of the bargain. Kevin O'Connell signing doesn't really mean anything other than we might be done with Kellen. We could use him as part of a trade (Kellen) and add a couple draft picks as well. We could also package a few guys like we did to move up in the draft and got Sanchez. How about Calvin Pace (Not sure if we could trade him due to his suspension) with Kellen and a 2nd round pick for Marshall??
I agree 100% but probably to make room for the extra TE we'll cut a DB (let it be Coleman pleeeeeeease!) and when we'll have to reinstate Ellis we'll cut one of the two TEs... basically this is just to see who is better between Pascoe and Mulligen as the 3rd string TE. I cannot believe we carry 4 TEs... if only because both Hunter and Turner also played some TE and Ryan said he has no problem putting a OL at TE for some plays... 3 is more then enough. PS Hopefully that 4th QB will become a WR soon
I'd do that... Pace has looked really good in preseason but i think we could pull it off without him...
Our most dynamic pass rusher whose finally found his niche in the NFL. Not a chance Pace is in this deal or Tanny doesn't make it.
Why not? Thomas didn't completely suck, Westermann and Murrell are pretty good, Gholston has to much money invested on him not to be given a chance and our HC is a blitz guru so he should be able to make the team blitz effectively even without a standout OLB like Pace.
Peter King just tweeted The Jets will keep 4 QBs. They are not trading O'Connell anywhere, and won't deal Clemens unless someone blows them away. Someone won't. So looks like one of our QB's is indeed on the move.
a good season... I think Pace counts 1-2 extra victories this season... also considering the suspension PS this trade is more like madden then real life though
My big question right now is....Can Calvin Pace be traded because he's suspended?? I'm saying Kellen is gone and heading to Denver. Can anyone else think of any other team we'd make a deal with?? I don't see him just getting cut.
Because now you're eating away at the core of this defense. Pace isn't any of those other guys you mentioned. Those are all unprovens who haven't done a damn thing in the league, Murrell being a solid backup. Pace has been playing at a pro bowl level this preseason and has 4-5 prime years of being one of the AFC's best pass rushers ahead of him. It's not just about Ryan's blitz schemes. You need the parts to make it work and Pace is an integral part.
How about Pace + O'connell + 2nd rounder for B. Edwards? The browns put in a waiver claim for him, Pace would be of interest to mangini and we get a big reciever...
Jets trying to hype up Clemens? They need to be blown away to trade him! LOL Or maybe teams just assume they could get Clemens for a 6th round pick or something and the Jets won't do it.
