Some family member really needs to go to court and get a competency hearing setup on Al Davis. The more you think about this the more ridiculous it sounds. Seymour is a free agent after this year, there is no guarantee he will sign with the Raiders and Davis games up a 1st round pick for this? Unless there is more to the contract that we don't know..like he gets a second back if Seymour takes a hike.

Ironically, an ex Raider in Burrgess will probably take Seymour's place.....

...Patriots now have a chance at Julio Jones and/or AJ Green.

This kind of blows, but hopefully the Faders make a little improvement and win 7 games in 2010.

What would be really cool if Big Sey doesn't sign after next with the Raiders .. Then comes back to Foxboro for vet min $$ .. I gotta say though BB without Pioli sure has a quick trigger finger.. Or Floyd Reeese ..

I don't know if its as dumb of an Oakland move as its being made out to be. Yeah they are giving up alot of hope in 2011 because the OAK fans need the draft to save their insanity BUT every year the draft means more guaranteed money for the higher up players that enter in and by 2011, if OAK is picking very high.......you could be talking about monstrous contract figures again for an unproven player.

At least with Seymour(Taking they get him with an extension), they get a proven guy with 3-4 years left.

Would I have done the deal with 1 week left to go to the regular season? Hell no....your expecting a guy to gain chemistry with his teammates and to get the defensive program in 1 week. But financially can I see why it got done? Yes.

And as Electric said, 2011 will be the year of the WR with J. Jones of BAMA, A Greene of UGA and M Floyd of ND all possibly entering. At least 1 of those 3 could be the next Fitzgerald/Calvin of the NFL...probably Jones if he has no problems.

Oakland had become the Patriots farm team. Need a player - we'll trade you one of our superstars for a bag of footballs (Moss). Don't want a player - we'll give you a first round pick. This is becoming a joke.

At least its 2011 and the Raiders have another year to improve.

from what i read, it's a 2011 first rd pick. there will probably be a cap on rookies so the top 5 picks will be even more valuable.

figures bb fleeces davis again! the league is going to have to step in at some time and have al davis hauled away in a special jacket. can the pats fleece the raiders any more than they already have???

what is al davis thinking. he didn't even get seymour to extend on a long term deal. seymour plays one year for the raiders, then bolts.

seymour to the jets baby, paybacks a bitch!!

At first I was screaming for joy but after seeing it's a first round pick and realizing they will trade down for more first round picks in a very talented draft next year....ugh....figures...

I can't wait for 2434555 more years of patriots greatness

    edit: It's not til 2011? :) AWESOME

Haha, what defensive program do the raiders have that a middle schooler couldn't learn in a week?

he was in last year of his deal and the Pats didn't want to give him a new one at his asking price. They are stockpiling for the future as always. Parcells was a master of the trade down and stockpiling and Bill jr learned from him.

That's fine, but with everyone in the world having that knowledge, why does the guy command a first round draft pick???????????????????????????

Seems to me, paying both Seymour and Wilwork top salaries would fly in the face of good sense. That the Patriots have again taken advantage of the Raiders is just discouraging.

Hall of famer or not, its time that someone took control of the Raiders away from Al Davis. Giving the Patriots a top five pick for a player pushing 30 puts every other team in the league at a disadvantage.

Huge win for the Patriots on this deal.

If he's allowed to become a FA next year and goes back to the Pats then Al Davis needs to be removed.
