I don?t usually buy into conspiracy theories in pro sports that are allegedly designed to make coaches or players intentionally fail, but sometimes we can?t deny the inevitable political goings on inside locker rooms everywhere, and the impact they may have on the direction teams do or don?t go in. With the fact that no rookie quarterback has ever taken an NFL team to the Supper Bowl, let alone win it; has Rex Ryan taken the primary purpose and goal for every NFL player away from his team before they play their first game this year? In support of the previous statement, I made a curious observation in Thurs nights Eagles game. After Mark Sanchez engineered a nice drive capped off with the winning touchdown to Cotchery, CBS immediately cut to the sidelines showing a very un-interested and smirking Shaun Ellis, Kris Jenkins, Vernon Gholston and Calvin Pace. There was absolutely no excitement, support or emotion from anyone of those players in a moment that was a positive for the franchise. In fact, Kris Jenkins appeared to be shaking his head sarcastically to say ?That?s great, the rookie is succeeding?..? It?s almost like they were hoping for failure so Clemens or Ainge would take over. Interestingly, in the second half as Erik Ainge engineered a scoring drive, Kerry Rhodes was ecstatic and over the top as he was being interviewed by Otis Livingston. Did anyone else notice this and feel the same way?
Please give me the telephone number of whoever is selling drugs to you... PS on a more serious note... I don't think many of the Jets players are 100% convinced they will get to the SB this year... going to the playoffs would already be an achievement and Flacco and Ryan demonstrated last year it's possible to do that with a rookie QB. Plus all the guys in the team want the BEST player to play... not the one with more years in the NFL.
In no shape or form does any new york jets player feel this way, I'm almost positive that they do not think of the rookie super bowl thing. There gonna go out there every week, try to win, and see what happens. They all knew who the starter was going to be when mark sanchez's name was called back in april
Yeah, I cannot say that I agree with the OP. From a shot of Ellis at al not cheering on the sidelines, you deduce that the team lost respect for Ryan because of his naming Sanchez the starting QB?
If the players were pissed at Ryan for not starting Clemens then they are about as good as Mangini in assessing talent. Gtfo
this thread is so ridiculously inane making fun of it would be joyless, like beating up an invalid or having sex with a corpse.
I'm sure they said about 23523 times that Sanchez has "fit" right in the locker room and has no ego whatsoever.
Perhaps those defensive players looked unexcited because they had just stunk up the joint with their one and only series of the game leading into the regular season...and a meaningless game at that. Interesting that the OP cites a DIFFERENT player being enthusiastic later in the game...how did Rhodes respond to Sanchez' TD? And either way, by the second half the D's disappointment had surely worn off and they were in "party mode" cheering on the scrubs. Ridiculous inference by the OP
While I think its okay to speculate on a thing like this, you have no good evidence to support your claim. Sanchez won this team fair and square. He outperformed Clemens and therefore made the starter. I hate it when the media reported that "It was no surprise that Sanchez was named starter", as if Sanchez didn't do anything to actually win the job. The better guy won. If I were on the Jets, I would be happy that we found out future QB, even if it meant growing pains this year. Shaun Ellis, Pace and especially Gholston should be worrying about what the defense should be doing, not who's playing the QB position.
"I don’t usually buy into conspiracy theories in pro sports" but somehow you managed to come up with this crap??? plz explain....
This is nuts. I did notice that Ryan said Mark did a great job, but he smiled when he said it. So that could only mean one thing: In his head when he said great job, he meant Mark Sanchez has a nice smile and would like to eat a piece of trapped lettuce from his teeth. It was so obvious.
I am pretty sure many rookie qbs have taken their teams out to dinner, and thus, to the supper bowl. Manu supper bowls in fact.
So you're basically telling us that our players feel that either Clemens or Ainge have a better shot of getting them to the big show than Sanchez?
