4.41 in the 40 makes one fast, I agree. It does not, however, make on "amazingly fast." He might get caught from behind by some burners on defense, but I think he could be a solid asset to this football team.

I find it interesting when folks make such definitive statements without credible supporting material (which does not include personal opinion).

For the record (Source NFL Draft Scout):

    40 times: DW: 4.33-4.38 Sproles:4.47 (Combine)
    10 yard times : DW: 1.44 Sproles:1.55
    20 yard times : DW: 2.50 Sproles: 2.62
    Vertical - DW 38" Sproles: 33"
Broad Jump DW: 10'01" Sproles: 8'09"

Danny Woodhead will not make the final roster. Mark it down. Get over it and go cry to your Wayne Chrebet doll.

Actually, by NFL standards, 10.5 in the 100 meters is extremely, if not amazingly fast. Faster runners can be (and frequently are) "caught" from behind by the slower runners pursuing them when the defender(s) have favorable angles of pursuit.

I find it interesting when folks take combine stats and assume the person can perform that well strapped into full pads and wearing cleats and being forced into unnatural and inflexible situations during a live football snap. I've seen Sproles do it with my own 2 little eyes at full speed on the football field against starting NFL players. I've seen Woodhead struggle to do it in the second half of a preseason game.

Edit: ah, I see, Woodhead wasn't at the combine. So he was performing in a pro day in even more favorable conditions than the combine.

In 2008 at his pro day he posted a 4.33! The guy can flat out fly. Anyone who questions his top end doesn't know the facts. He wasn't invited to the combines but if you compare his top speed at this pro day to the combine he had the second fastest time of all RB's at the combine that year. Don't just assume that because he's white he can't run.

Woodhead will get squashed in this league....he's not gonna make this final roster, IMO.

And i don't want to hear how MJD is smaller than Woodhead......MJD's legs are wider than Woodhead's torso and can "tread water" in a pool of quicksand.

Well, if you have stats that show how they run in full pads on turf then please post them. Otherwise the only stats that matter are those that ARE in print.

I don't need stats. I can see their football speed and judge it on the field. I'm sure you were a big fan of Gholston's combine workout, huh? Those stats really mattered to you.

Woodhead has a puncher's chance at making the team after last night. Neverless, I think if he is moved to the practice squad somebody is going to sign him.

Jones-Drew is listed as only 10 pounds heavier. So if his legs are wider than Woodhead's torso then where is it that Jones-Drew is so weak? Gotta be somewhere.

Me? Gholston? You got the wrong guy here about that. I'm the one that said the second he was drafted that it was a total waste of a draft pick. An opinion I still hold.

Here is his pro day: Woodhead, the all time leading rusher (now #2) in NCAA history did not receive a invite to the NFL Scouting Combine so he had to use his pro day to show his abilities. According to a report on NFLDraftWatch.net, he ran the 40-yard dash in a time of 4.33 to 4.38 seconds which would have been the second-fastest among all running backs at the NFL Combine in March 2008. He posted the best pro-agility time of 4.03 seconds, the second-best vertical jump (38? inches) and the best 60-yard shuttle time (11.2 seconds). ANY MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THISWHITE MAN'S ATHLETIC ABILITIES? A FEW WHITE MEN CAN RUN AND JUMP (not me, but some).

It's called Sarcasm, Don. It's listed under S in the dictionary. Gholston's combine made people believe that his pursuit speed - in pads, on the football field - would lead to a ton of sacks. And yet he has trouble chasing down even halfway mobile quarterbacks. Those stats don't matter as much as you seem to think they do.

Danny woodhead won't play anyway even if he does make the team, he would get like 4 carries a game, sometimes not even

Didn't see the last line in your original post. The first one stopped me in my tracks.
