Tempering my excitement for the start of the Ryan/Sanchez era are our challenging opening schedule, our brand new QB, and starting the season without Ellis and Pace... Given these concerns, here's what I'm hoping for in the first month... --At least a 2-2 September to keep the playoffs realistic while #6 and our new defense gets acclimated --Mark Sanchez still upright and feeling more confident as he heads into October --Westerman, Murrell or Gholston blooming under the pressure and suddenly giving the team even greater depth when the other guys return.
Here's what I'm hoping for. In game 2 against the Pats, Bart Scott sacks Brady for a fumble and David Harris recovers. As he's jogging off to the sidelines, Brandon Marshall is jogging out. Brandon Marshall gives D. Harris a slap on the butt and a pat on the head. On the very next play, Sanchez with a Play Action, connects with Brandon Marshall on a 10-yd outroute, and Marshall converts it to a 43 YAC after breaking 3 tackles. I think the rest of the season would take care of itself. A man can hope.
I'm really not sure why it was necessary to tell everyone that you're hoping for that slap on the ass.
I'll do cartwheels if we go 2-2. i just hope we get one win the first month and I'll feel pretty good. If we are at least 2-3 after 5 we'll be in great shape.
Of course it's a part of football. It's just not something that I actively wish for and then share with the masses. I'm sorry that I don't sit around and say "Man, when I think about dreams for this season, some good ass slappin' is right up there on the list!"
Hey, Igs, BTW, I was just wondering how everything went at the Doc's with Mrs. Igs and your parentdom? Hope everything is totally cool.....GH
Everything is fine for now. We're just likely facing low birth weight. Not a big deal in the slightest. There were risks of kidney and heart problems and Down Syndrome, but they ran checks on the kidneys and heart and they looked fine. No other marker for Downs. It was good to get that out of the way before having to move my Grandfather into assisted living over the past 3 days. It never stops around here. Sorry, back on topic.
If the .5% chance that the scenario I had planned out pans out, come back to me and say you didn't like that good ol' ass slappin'. haha. In the other 99.5%, yea 2-2 from the schedule of our first 4 games would be satisfying enough.
I'm hoping that the Jets beat the Pats in week 2, and then the entire defense gets greased up with lard and has a gay orgy in the showers. That would be sweet. Oh and also that Revis has 2 picks.
 Now that's the perfect response right there. EDIT: Just saw the edit with 2 picks for Revis. Even better!
I'll be ecstatic if the Jets are 2-2 when the calendar reads October. I'll even be impressed if they win one (preferably the NE game.) I don't hold out a lot of hope for a good September. I just want to get through the month (and the rest of the season) without any significant injuries. I'm far more fatalistic this year than I ever am before November, but I'm holding out real hope that next year will be a big year for us.
Can someone talking about hoping for a single win in September, please explain to me why they think Tennessee is suddenly a threat, after we bitchslapped them around last year? Losing Haynesworth > Losing Favre.
Good call, I completely agree, I think the toughest thing about this game will be getting pressure on the QB since the Titans may have the best offensive line in football. I will throw this out, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets started 3-1. Yup 3-1 wouldn't surprise me, with one loss to New England. I think the Texans are completely overrated, they come into every season over the last three years being the surprise team to make the playoffs and they falter early. Their run defense is very suspect and I'm not convinved that their offense is something the Jets defense can't handle. The Titans will be tough, their defense is still good, even without Haynesworth, but their offense still is run oriented, which the jets can stop. Also having home field advantage will help. The saints game will be good, I see it as very competitive. The thing that gives the Jets a great chance in this game is the suspensions of Will Smith and Charles Grant. Without these two guys, I see the Jets being able to run all over this defense. The key will be whether the defense can slow down the offense. I'm not saying the Jets will go 3-1, actually 2-2 I would be very pleased with, all I am saying is that the Jets schedule isn't nearly as tough as it seems, and I think to pencil in losses to all 4 teams , especially the Texans is definitely going overboard.
