Maybe I was just passing along what I saw to spice up some speculation? Maybe he's really on a plane to New York? Maybe he's at home punching his girlfriend in the face? All we know is the Jets are interested and that he wants out.

    Lighten up, Francis.

I personally would not do it based on reasons already stated but I know that Harris and mid round pick for Marshall is a good deal. I do; however, take offense to Harris being down graded to just a run in the mill ILB in order to justify the trade. An arguement can be made to trade for Marshall w/o Harris all of the sudden becoming slow, a liability in pass coverage and a 2 down LB.

    You don't understand.

I've always considered David "Hitman" Harris to be a two down backer that's a liability in pass coverage.

He's very good against the run, but he's usually a step or two behind in coverage.

Lighten up? These are my nerves!!! Here I'm thinking Harris is traded - just days after he was all over the G-men - and Brandon Marshall - one of the best receivers - is on his way to NY for a physical!

    I need some aspirin! ;)

It was more a reaction to the way that Harris was being propped up as the best ILB in football by some people in the thread.

Just some more food for thought:

Which OLB on our current roster do you think would make the smoothest transition to ILB?

    or

Do you think this would have to be addressed by acquiring someone?

I think both Pace and Westerman have the potential to be successful as an ILB. Both have the size and speed, are solid tacklers, and BRING IT!

Vic Lombardi "I'm told Marshall is starting to see the light"
Why The Broncos Won't Trade Brandon Marshall

I know a lot of Bronco fans clamoring for a Brandon Marshall trade. And reports out of New York suggest they might even have a willing partner in the New York Jets. Marshall for a 1st round pick.

Well I'm here to tell you ? not happening. Not this year.

Here's why: If the Broncos hold onto him this season and no collective bargaining agreement is reached, Marshall would automatically become a restricted free agent, which allows the Broncos to control his rights.

If the owners and union do indeed reach a labor agreement, Marshall could qualify as an "unrestricted" free agent, allowing him to go as he pleases. If that's the case, the Broncos could simply slap a franchise tag on him. And the going rate for a franchise receiver (according to several agents) is a 1st and 3rd round pick, minimum.

So why would the Broncos bite at the Jets offer? Just a 1st-rounder? Why not just hold onto Marshall for the season and then collect a 1st AND a 3rd at the end of the year? It doesn't make sense to trade him now, unless of course some desperate team makes the Broncos an offer they can't refuse. Are the Jets that desperate? Doubtful.

Also, I'm told Marshall is starting to see the light. (I know, I know, we've heard this before). But this is different. Earlier this week, Marshall extended an olive branch to Rod Smith. He's seeking Rod's help again. He's actually listening this time. Rod and Brandon have been working out together this week, working on the body AND the mind. That's great news for B-Marsh. He needs guidance in his life. And nobody can fill that role better than Rod Smith.

    did you guys hear that?

that's the sound of the wind being removed from our sails.

EDIT: Although...I'd like to be a fly on the wall to hear Rod Smith's convincing argument for Marshall to embrace Kyle Orton as his new QB.

Marshall wants out, and given his past, if he's feeling that way, he's not the type of guy you want hanging out with the team in the locker room. I think it's worse than that.

I don't know who they're going to trade him to -- please Jets -- but I think by one week from now he will be gone from the Broncos.
