Was anyone else even close to them in the year they won? I should have probably worded in differently. That if two guys are close it almost always goes to the guy on the team that makes the playoffs and that's the situation we are in this year so we will see.

Everyone in NYC thought a certain Yankee should have won in '06 over Morneau, but it didn't happen. Same thing's gonna happen with Mauer this year, as it should.

Their numbers aren't close even with Jeter's great year, if it gets close then you have a point but right now it is Mauer's to lose

Mauer has been great, but the Twins will miss the playoffs. Jeter has been great too, but without Texiera, this team is not the same. Tex gets my vote.

Mauer is a great player, to be sure. The difference is that Jeter and Teixeira were instrumental and successful in getting their team into the post season., both in the field and at the plate. To me, while Jeter is on fire, Tex has played brilliant defense while putting up power numbers in the clutch. I'm not sure if the Yankees get to the post season without Tex. To me, that is the difference between Mauer and Teixiera. Jeter has been outstanding, but so has Teixeira. I gotta go with Tex based on his power numbers.

Tex completes this lineup. He is the missing ingredient in there

The difference is that Mauer is having a better season than both of them.
