Royal Tee said that if he gets the time he will upload it at some point, he recorded the game.:metal:
Could be worse Nick. Vernon Gholston will never be a Brian Cox but he might be a Bryan Thomas clone. At this point, alot of people would be happy with a Marvin Jones type of career. That would at least represent some ROI in Vern's rookie contract.
I'm uploading to daTube now. I'm letting it transcode it for me so It may take a little time... I titled it: Ghost drives Carr...
If you're talking about Westerman, I saw that too. The biggest difference was that he didn't seem to give up on it like Gholston. That was the part that bothered me about Gholston's chase. It wasn't that he failed to catch him, he stopped for a moment. That's one thing I still see too much of out of him. With how poorly he played last season, he needs to be busting his ass on every play from start to finish.
Enjoy! You can clik on it and watch it in HD...
HOLY SHIT! i missed the second half and this is my first time seeing the hit. no fuckin way that was helmet to helmet. that was a textbook tackle he exploded right through him. and the play where he fell down after Carr eluded him. he doesnt mysteriously trip and fall on his face. he tries to pull Carr down from behind and Sione Pouha tries to tackle Carr, Carr then cuts inside and Pouha dives and hits Gholstons legs. from the way you guys were talking you made it sound like he Eric Smith'ed on the turf. on that play Gholston simply underestimated Carrs ability and didnt take a pursuit angle he was going straight for him. good plays aside we all know he got ran at. but my other posts, i stick to them. id rather see slow progress over no progress. anyone who wants him to stay at this skill level just keep screaming bust for 2 more yrs and then you can talk about how an obvious project player didnt pan out. like i said I didnt want us drafting him, but hes here now. you either support the guy and hope he continues to develop or parade around till hes off the roster with an "i told you so" attitude. this concludes my morning rant. and thanks to royal tee for the upload
Pretty much the same opinion as well. missed the second half, shouldnt have been helmet-to-helmet, but guess what that was one hell of a stick by Gholston, unblocked or not that was a fantastic hit by Gholston, and while he has done next to nothing, this is probably a positive sign....
Vern came in unblocked. That's the only way he had a free shot on Carr as no one blocked Vern. Lets be clear here. He beat no one. That's what happens when you're continually a non-factor as you get ignored every now and then. As far as being outrun to the outside, just lump that in with all the other near misses and yeah, he looked silly as hell when he hit the ground. I suppose when you're a #6 pick and you're making his kind of cash, effort counts more than results. Gotta hang the hat on something..
Well, can't say he doesn't have the drive anymore. That was 2 pre-seasons' and one benching's worth of anger getting taken out on the guy who broke Ken O'Brien's sack record. Edit: Oh yea, and  at the RT with a fist full of Pitoitua's jersey on the 3rd&2 play.
Same here... Funny I wasn't in on the Parade to Grab Gholston... I said BE CAUTIOUS.. The people who were 110% on the Draft Gholston train should bow their heads. Especially If they are on the Bust train now. That said, Once he's on the team you have to look and hope for the best.. That hit was textbook and a BS flag.. BUT, hopefully Gholston smelled blood and wants more... I'm sure, flag or not, the team was all over him all week about it.
That was definitely helmet to helmet but it wasn't intentional and he didn't lead with his head but I don't think that matters at all as far as the rule is concerned.
The refs saw Carr's head snap backwards and probably heard the pads slam together. Must have been from the impact but that's not how they saw it..
Oh man! I missed that! That is very, very, very reassuring. I know Rex pulled him aside after that and said, "Fuck that flag, Vern. Do that EVERY SINGLE TIME."
Yeah, I am here, too. At least it something productive. I though it was a questionable call as well. I also beleive VG ran down Jacobs after he got free on a run or maybe it was the other Giants RB, not sure. I did think it showed very good speed on VG's part. I am still quite aways from throwing in the towel on VG. I like to make fun of him, but I do want him to be an impact player on our team. If he pans out it is like getting a extra draft pick.........
VG ran down Bradshaw which was impressive as Bradshaw has good speed. The only issue I can see is Banks saying he had to run him down as he was slow getting off his block. But again, see the announcers thread to see what we think of them. That being said, you could look at it either way, playing a good oline, one of the best in the league, of course it is tough to get off of blocks. But he showed good closing speed to run him down from behind, that is what I will take from it. He showed good power collapsing the pocket a few times playing as a DE and that non sack was at least something. He actually played angry for a change there IMO. I was glad to see something is all.
