Am I crazy? Stafford looks like he has a strong arm and could be a great QB, plus was taken #1 overall for a reason, but I would not trade Mark Sanchez for him right now. I think Sanchez has a chance to be a great quarterback in the NFL and is showing great signs right now, as is Stafford. What would you do right now if you could swap the players and keep the contracts as is aka Jets QB makes $50 million (Sanchez or Stafford). Basically don't bring money into it. I think it is tough to consider the switch, I know I would not do it. I know it is only after 3 preseason games and it is a silly question, but it is interesting to me what people would do.
I liked Sanchez a lot pre draft and said so. Now, he's my QB of the future and for better or worse I'm standing behind him all the way.
I never understood why Stafford was so highly rated to begin with, I never thought that much of him at Georgia.
He has a cannon arm and showed progression every year as a starter. All that while playing in what is widely considered the toughest conference in college football. He's an NFL scouts wet dream. He may not be great, but there seems to be little risk of a complete bust with him.
Sanchez just has the personality to fit in New York. I know Eli got by with the "golly gee" thing, but Sanchez to me exudes the confidence that most people need to excel at key positions here in the NYC area.
He's gonna have some bumps in the road but I think he's going to develop into the QB we've been searching for. Nice mechanics, quick feet, and he throws one of the prettiest balls in the league. (I said 'throws', not 'has', lol no homo) I'm not crowning him the savior just yet, but you can definately see the potential. I really hope he turns into one of the greats, but right now I'm just taking it one day at a time. He looked alright tonight, no mistakes. So far, so good.
Way too early to make any legit analysis of either QB. Sanchez looks to be the better prospect, but Stafford is the more polished player..... It doesn't help Stafford that he's going to a shit team with no oline or running game. I'm happy with Dirty so far.
Well, I'm a USC alum, so it's obvious - plus I'm female...but why would you use the nickname "Dirty" for your starting QB? It's vulgar and derogatory, and Mark comes from a very nice family, unlike alot of the thugs in the NFL.
My last name is Sanchez (male, not mexican) and people have called me Dirty Sanchez before. I dont really give a shit. Get it, ok terrific.
I agree it is a terrible nickname and I will never use it for Mark. He is too cool. Dirty Stafford? Maybe.
If the Lions were going to take a QB on that pick it should have been Sanchez. He was more accurate in college by quite a bit than Stafford was and accuracy is the single most important stat in terms of figuring out how a QB will translate to the Pros. Of course this is the Lions we're talking about so the odds on them making the right pick were low.
Yeah, but everyone just assumed that Stafford was the #1 pick from day one. What is the reasoning for this? He is big and has a big arm, is that it? He played for Georgia, who didn't do too much special with him at QB. Maybe scouts thought Sanchez had too much talent around him and Stafford did it all on his own?
And my avatar is not respctable to hot Mormon girls..... nobody means any ill will towards Mark or his family and I don't think anybody means anything negative towards our neighbors to the south.
Leading up to the draft, all of the talk was about Sanchez. The only knock on him was that he didn't play enough in college. Anyway, I thought the Jets got the better player, and it's looking more like that every time he picks up the ball.
