I suppose in theory this could be merged with http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=47551 but it does seem to be breaking news...
That's good to hear. Even as bad as he looked against the Ravens I still felt more comfortable with him than Clemens!
surprise, surprise..like there was ever a doubt. It was the only decision that would have made any sense.
good decision. We are just wasting time playing Clemens. Backup as best. I was wrong, he stinks. No I hope I was wrong about Sanchez also and he plays great. Lets get it on
Like it was ever in doubt! This basically amounts to Sanchez's senior year. Lets hope he picks it up where he left off!
it would of been a waste of time to start clemens. sanchez is our future as of right now and it better for him to get the play experience now and make the bad mistakes this year then waste a year with him behind clemens bc clemens isnt a good enough qb for him to sit behind and learn from.. maybe we can ship clemens over to denver in the marshall trade so we can save ourselves a draft pick
For once I think Florio got it right. Now go get him another receiver. Sanchez will start for the Jets Posted by Mike Florio on August 26, 2009 8:29 AM ET Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Jets coach Rex Ryan has informed his team's quarterbacks that Mark Sanchez will be the starter this year. So Sanchez has won the competition with Kellen Clemens. But, frankly, we don't think there were actually was a competition. We think that Sanchez was destined to be the Week One starter the moment the Jets pulled the trigger on a trade up by 12 spots in round one to get Sanchez with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Instead of merely handing the job to Sanchez, however, the Jets forced him to "earn" it. If nothing else, it's a great way to push the kid during training camp, and to keep him from becoming complacent. In the end, there's no way Ryan was going to go with anyone other than Sanchez. Last year, G.M. Mike Tannenbaum decided that the Jets needed to trade for Brett Favre because 2006 second-round pick Kellen Clemens wasn't the guy. So if Sanchez can't beat out the guy that wasn't the guy in 2008, how much longer would Tannebaum be the guy deciding which guys will be on the team?
In my opinion this was the worse way this could of happened. Clemens basically lost the job more than Sanchez won the job. To be honest with you, Sanchez really hasn't shown he is any better than Clemens. Personally i think Ryan does not know what he is doing. He hasn't prepared Sanchez enough by letting him go one drive against the Rams and taking him out of the 2 minute drill vs the Ravens. It will be interesting to see how well Sanchez will react if he starts doing awful out of the gate
Let's get him ready for Houston and beyond now. I want to see him play into the 3rd qtr Sat night. He doesn't need to be great, he just needs to avoid plays like his first pass Monday Night.
