I have the 3rd pick in my Keeper League

The top 2 already announced that they are going with Peterson and Turner. Im left with either MJD or Forte .. so who do you think has a better upside?

    Thanks

Very tough. I would go with MJD dimply because he will get more carries this year with Fred Taylor out of Jax. However, you could go either way.

Both backs have somthing going for them comming into this season.

MJD is "the man" in Jax for the first time. His back-up is most likely to be 7th round pick Rashad Jennings. He'll see a ton of touches this season. Now if he can handle the load is a bit of a question.

Forte has Cutler. That is goign to be both a plus and a minus. Look for the bears the throw more, but Forte led all backs in receptions and is a big part of thier passing game. Also, with the threat of Cutler and his big arm, the Bears are less likely to see 8 in the box this season.

For me it comes down to who will benefit the most from his teams changes. I think despite the Bears offense goign more well rounded this season, Forte will see a bigger over all impact from the addition of Cutler than MJD will see from increased carries.

EDIT: If your in a PPR league this is not even close. Forte gets much more work out of the backfeild.

You might wanna check that again. Forte hat 63 receptions last year, MJD had 62.

I drafted MJD at #2 last week, so I obviously would go with him here. They?ll get a simular amount of workload, on the ground and throu the air and both will be FF-Beasts for years. I think MJD has a better OL and he already scored more TDs than Forte, with much less touches, so I think, he?ll score more TDs.

They are pretty much dead even in my mind but I'll take the one that has put together more than one good fantasy season: Jones-Drew

It's almost a dead heat but go with Forte because the Bears have always been and will always be a run first team. Jax sometimes likes to get cute with Garrard and that cast of hugely inconsistent receivers and Drew tends to go through a few games where they get away from pounding him 20 times a game. Maybe Del Rio wisened up and will make sure he gets his 20 carries every game this year. I know Taylor had a lot to do with it also but I've seen too many games over the last few seasons where Jax gets away from pounding the rock.

Forte will always be the centerpiece of the Bears O even with Cutler there. I firmly believe that. Cutler will be 1A but everything will go through Forte and Cutler there makes him even more dangerous to defend. I'm expecting Forte to challenge for best back in all of fantasy this year. We'll see.

You are right on that, I was looking at the previous years number for MJD at 40 receptions.

Both of these guys are due to have big season, baring injury, but I feel that the Bears offense has a bit more to it with Cutler at QB. The difference will most likely be a small one between over all point.

MJD had 2 more total touch downs than Forte last season 14 to 12. Then again the Bears had Kyle Orton at QB and averaged less than 200 yards a game passing. I expect that to change and open up things a big more for the big runner.

I had that same choice to make in a PPR league. I went with MJD for the simple reason that we know he's going to get thrown to out of the backfield. Forte caught the ball a lot out of the backfield last season, but he also had Orton under center. I don't know if I trust Cutler to check down to Forte as frequently. His backs last season had a combined 40 receptions among them. Garrard more than doubled that number, and he's throwing the ball with MJD in the backfield again.

Still, it wouldn't surprise me to see either one outproduce the other.

Yea, its going to be a close one. I ended up with MJD at the #5 slot and am happy with it over all. Forte went 2nd in our league this season.

He won't be splitting the load anymore, you are probably better off.

Yea, I just hate expecting a guy to step into a bigger role and keep the same average production. MJD next 1,000 yard rushing season will be his first ever.

That said, I do think he will ahve a hell of a year.

I could argue MJD over Peterson, and while both will be very very good, I take him over Forte without question.
