Clowney had a lot of drops early in TC. That set him back as far as the CS was concerned. I've read some quotes in a couple of articles on this from Clowney. He takled about trying too hard, not concentrating on making the catch first. This will be a run first offense. Cotch is a great possession reciever. Clowney as others have said can keep the safeties honest and create mismatches, like LB's trying to cover Keller and Leon. Stuckey is a slot reciever. Clowney IS that fast. Even if his route running isn't good, his straight speed is something this offense needs to keep that eigth defender out of the box.

I just re-watched Brad Smith drop that ball in the EZ, and that followed the offensive pass interference penalty he had earlier in the game. Putrid all around. Someone please explain to me: why Brad Smith is higher up on the depth chart than Clowney?
I don't think Stuckey is the #2 anymore.... I think Clowney won the job. Game 3 of preseason will likely make that fact or fiction, we shall see.
Too be fair Clowney has been our best receiver this pre-season aswell as last. I know its only the Pre-season but he's proven more then Stuckey , Smith and all those other turdy receivers combined.
Are you serious? He was dropping everything at the beginning of camp... you guys all have stars in your eyes. He's not that good. He's "Mr. August", hasn't proved a thing. If he blows up, then fine I'll be the first to say how great he is... I'm just doubting that's going to happen.
At least Clowney has some size to him, at least stocky wise...Stuckey and Smith get bumped at the line and their whole route is jacked up.

And Clowney has only played in one game. Watching them both play receiver, it's pretty obvious to me who the better receiver is. I think Smith is a good football player and he does a lot of positive things for us, but I think Clowney is a more talented receiver that can put real pressure on a defense. Aside from the mind blowing 53 career catches Smith has, what about him as a receiver do you think is better than the Clown?
Nothing. I'm just getting a little tired of the Clowney BJ parade that you guys are apparently sponsoring. That's a fine opinion that you have, but it has no basis in fact. Clowney is a complete unknown, and let's just ignore the fact that he plays against 2nd and 3rd string defenses in the preseason, which is where all his production comes from. Yeah... okay, you're right, he's better.
Considering that Clowney is a paltry 6'1" tall and a whopping 188 lbs, i would say he's one of the skinniest guys on the team. Hell, I could probably pin the dude and I'm 5'9".
All I'm saying is he looks far better than any other receiver on our roster not named Cotchery. It's not even close IMO. It's not like I'm comparing him to Larry Fitzgerald. Smith is a good football player. Clowney, based on what I've seen, is a far better receiver and it's not even close.
i've seen the phenomenon of someone dropping balls in practice and having good hands when it counts first had. David Tyree is also another good example of that before the SB catch. Knowing is intelligence and concentration level it doesn't shock me. And I know he's Mr. August, but he is the only WR that is making true headway. Since the Jets are so depleted at WR, wouldn't Mr. August mean he deserves to play with the 1s? I think so.
