Sanchez has no real battle scars after only starting 1 year at USC with a great team ....he is going to have to get some on the job the job training and learn what its like to get beat up a little ... he responded well last night lets hope he can fully adjust to the speed of the NFL by the time the season rolls in...
Agree 100%. This is his time to show that things have started to click. Its not about winning the game or the stats that he runs up. Its about is he putting himself in the right spots to make plays for the team, the stats will follow. It does not look like he is.I expect nothing from him.
You're right, the QB competition should last until the day before the week 1 game with Rex flipping a coin to decide because neither QB steps up and establishes himself. Get a goddamn clue for Christ's sake. And by the way, this is Gholston's 22nd game. I guess this is the sort of logic we should expect from someone who doesn't understand how to use capital letters or punctuation.
So agree. I actually think most of the Sanchez evaluations have been surprisingly positive considering we're Jets fans (lol). And the Gholston hate was there for most of us long before last night. I am also getting tired of the Suggs comparisons. That's just pure bullshit when you look at Suggs's first years numbers and Gholston's ABSENCE OF ANY FIRST YEAR NUMBERS. And stop with that "it's not all about sacks" bullshit. Hell, I want the kid to make one unassisted non-special teams tackle! OK, rant over.

Hey man, it's the pre-season ya know? It's not just the players who have to get in shape for the real show. If I'm going to be in full whine by game four I have to start working out the kinks now! Otherwise I'll still be in second gear when Faneca goes down and Mangold's aching back flares up and then where will we be? Darksiding takes discipline, but mostly it requires a lot of practice.
Revis was not playing last night, so for the most part they were throwing away from Sheppard. All the guys trying for the #3 CB spot struggled. If Revis was playing, he would have been on Mason, and that bomb never happens. Also, I'm pretty sure Rhodes cost Lowery a pick early, but I can understand he was just playing it safe on that pass breakup. The defense only gave up 10 points. If Revis and Jenkins were playing we could easily have shut them out on offense.
Lowery will be just fine if the pass rush works and toast if it doesn't. That's true for Sheppard also and would be true for Revis if anybody would throw at him instead of the easier marks on the field. A pass rush will make the Jet's pass defense effective. Lack of a pass rush will make it as bad as it has been for the last few seasons, and it was bad in 2007 also - it's just that the run D was so bad that year that nobody bothered to test it much.
The Ravens can pick apart the best OLs out there, and they don?t have a big Problem replacing Suggs for one Game, they?re loosing quality starters in FA every year, and won?t loose a beat. Sanchez was nervous as hell yesterday, I remember a interview, some weeks ago, where he said, he always smiles on Sunday, cuz he loves Gameday, when you look at his face before and during the Game, there was no smiling at all. That pick6 to Ngata was a pure Rookie mistake, that shit happens to Rookies. And if you look closely at that play, you also see a lot of good things in it, He recognized the delay overload blitz, he instantly knew, where his hot guy was, and got to him. Next time, he?ll step up a little in the Pocket, to give the RB just a little bit more time, to get outside and he?ll get him the ball in the Flat with noone withing 8 yards. And we all know what Leon does in the open. Sure it looked terrible, but he did a lot of things right on the play, and just fucked up a small thing, that?s easy to fix. I also love how he threw that TD to Leon, he felt the pressure comming, knew where to step to avoind pressure, and instead of laying the ball over Leon?s head, like many other QBs would have done, he just throws it right at him for an easy catch. Even yesterday, i saw a lot more good things in Sanchez, than bad things, he does a lot of difficult things right, and only fucks up some easy to fix rookie things. I?m also sure, he?ll be more poised in the Pocket soon, which will also help a lot.
Granted, it was the Raven's starting defense, but, it was also a vanilla defense. Wait until feisty teams with creativity, i.e. The Jaguars defense start harassing Sanchez, what then? Even Peyton Manning threw 28 picks in his first season. I don't believe Sanchez would be allowed to throw as many, because they would put Clemons in to share in the int. load.
