'How can you not be impressed with what David Clowney's doing?' asked Jets coach Rex Ryan of the wide receiver, above.
Ainge will play the majority of the second half and rookie Chris Pizzotti will get one series, Ryan said. thought we had released Pizzotti.
I'm all for Clowney getting the nod. He separated himself a bit from the rest of the #2 WR options with his strong preseason showing. I thought the Jets released Pizzotti. Didn't realize they re-signed him.
Doesn't matter much to me, whoever earns it earns it. Good to hear somebody is standing out compared to the rest.
From what I've seen of our receivers so far, Clowney starting at #2 definitely makes the most sense to me. I like Stuckey a lot, but having Clowney on the field expands our play options and gives us what could be a legitimate downfield threat. Looks like we'll be missing Woody and Faneca and possibly Mangold again. Good luck with that, Sanchez.
Yeah we resigned Pizotti last night I believe. He was practicing today, and when I met Rex today he cracked a joke about Pizotti
With the way he performed against St.Louis, compared to Smith and Wright, this doesn't surprise me. His speed is a good compliment to J-Co.
let's hope clowney can keep his head in practice, because if he can keep it going, his deep threat potential is huge for this team.
not me....this sounds about right. you have to take into account that he probably pulled hist hamstring planting and exploding off the snap or it couldve been something else. but point in case. when you weigh 360, and you strain anything below your waist, a few weeks recovery should be allowed. especially if were not in the regular season yet. its not like jenkins needs reps to remember how to command double teams and shed blocks.
as far as clowney goes, the fact its known he has speed expands the playcalling options especially if were throwing to setup the run at some point in a game or looking to utilize play action. i still think stuckey has better and more consistent hands. but i would prefer that as a good quality of my slot reciever, especially in the case that cotch might already see double teams to try to suffocate our WR corps in question. so the 1st and 2nd reads on plays will generally look covered. lets just hope clowney can stay healthy and prove he can be consistent.
I like the idea of Clowney being out there opposite Cotchery. He was the one receiver who seemed to me like he could win it due to his ability to break away from the defense as opposed to least of all evils.
Clowney's ability to stretch the field makes it a virtual no brainer for him to start opposite Cotch. Stuckey is a great slot guy and having him as the #3 will maximize his ability
He'll be fine come Week 1. The Jets just want to make sure he's 100% healthy for the games that really matter. We all know what happened to our run defense after Jenkins was hurt last year.........
If Clowney knew half as much about our offense as he knows about Twittering, he'd be the #1 receiver on the roster right now. HOLLA!
"I was trying to make the awesome catch when I didn't need to." this is a very odd thing for a wide receiver to say. i am bemused.
I have to admit it. When he made those TD catches in last years pre-season in Cleveland, I really thought he could be a threat for the team last year. But sadly he got hurt & once again this pre-season he is showing that he is a threat again. I am ready for the Clown show to start this season as he should be an automatic on this team. When I say the Clown show it's meant as a good thing. Because David Clowney is a threat that can't be stopped. :jets:
Definitely. Stuckey is excellent in the slot and not afraid to go over the middle and make the tough catch. Last season we saw Ratliffe stretch the field with Clowney , ok it was against a bad Browns secondary , but hes also put a little reminder in last week against the Rams. I really hope we give these guys as much chance as possible and a few emerge as genuine talents.
